The unidentified man fell from Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas ship on Thursday night, sparking a frantic rescue response, per TMZ.

Footage began circulating on social media showing rescue crews attending to the incident, and were able to retrieve the man from the water.

Tragically, the man did not survive the fall, with Royal Caribbean confirming that the crew member had died.

They told TMZ in a statement: "Our crew immediately initiated a search and rescue operation, but unfortunately the crew member passed away.

"We extend our condolences to the crew member’s family and loved ones. To respect their privacy, we have no additional details to share."

It is not yet known how the man fell from the ship, which was reportedly on its way to Coco Cay at the time.

The Icon of the Seas is currently on a seven-day cruise to the Caribbean and is expected to return to Miami on Saturday as scheduled.

This incident comes just weeks after a young girl was saved after she fell overboard on a Disney Cruise.

Her 37-year-old father also jumped into the water after her on June 29 as the Disney Dream cruise ship was returning from a four-day voyage around the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

While her father didn’t witness the fall, he sprang into action the moment his wife alerted him.

“After the girl's mother alerted her husband, who didn't see the incident, he jumped into the ocean to save his daughter,” authorities said. “BSO detectives said after the 37-year-old father found his daughter, he treaded water until they were rescued by a tender that was launched from the ship.”

The entire ordeal - from the fall to the rescue - lasted about 20 minutes.

Once brought back onboard, both the father and daughter were examined by the ship’s medical staff and later transported to a local hospital after the vessel docked at Port Everglades the following morning.

According to a newly released statement by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, cited by the Mirror, the little girl lost her balance while sitting on a railing on deck 4 and fell backwards through a porthole into the open ocean.
