Irish fighter Conor McGregor is best known for two things. Firstly, he's famous for being to kick anyone's teeth in. But secondly, he's also infamous for his outrageous spending habits.
Fair play to the man, he does make a ton of money off of his fights. But seriously, every time McGregor lands himself a big win, the next day on social media he can be seen flashing huge wads of banknotes, swilling champagne like it was orange squash, and indulging in some serious partying.
Check out this video of Conor McGregor taking on 'The Mountain' from Game of Thrones:

However, now Conor has decided to give back to his own community. The UFC fighter has just invested in property development and is currently building a total of eight homes for homeless people living rough on the streets of Dublin.
Conor took to Twitter to share photos of the build, writing: "Back on the site today, it has been a while. This is my first property development. We have eight homes here closing in on finish. Three bedroom houses, designated for families that currently reside in hotels around the capital, without a home to call their own. But not for long. Through the storm comes the sun!"

He added; "Walking around this land and these homes today, meeting all the neighbours, knowing that soon there will be families living here, creating their own memories, and building back their lives, gives me great pride! Ireland forever! Ireland first! Ireland always!"
McGregor announced his retirement from MMA earlier this year, stating his intention to pursue other business opportunities. Although many fans are clearly clamouring for his return to the ring, Conor appears to be very much busy with his altruism. I guess the Gaelic warrior really does have a heart of gold after all!

[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/kyczJtuoZx/?taken-by=bigboymansion]] Regardless of what happens tonight, I suppose that, even in the face of a chastening defeat that would rock the world of fighting, it must be nice to know that you can go home and comfort yourself in palatial surroundings, clutching endless wadges of cash, and, if the fancy takes you, go for a drive in one of your many super cars. Floyd Mayweather will face off against Conor McGregor inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas tonight. Mayweather, the 49-0 undefeated boxer is the overwhelming favourite, while McGregor, who will be making his professional boxing debut, is viewed as a huge underdog. In boxing, though, there is always the chance of a lucky shot, and the southpaw Irishman certainly has the power, particularly in his left hand, to knock Mayweather out. To do that, though, he will need to land a glove on the undefeated boxer, something that many doubt he is capable of.uncategorised3 min(s) read

Conor McGregor has certainly had a successful year. The Irish-born mixed martial arts fighter is estimated to have earned just shy of $100 million in last year, and isn't exactly quiet about it. Always getting into trouble and with a hell of a lot of bravado to boot, he's become one of the biggest stars in the sport for a reason.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmj6khFgOD-/?taken-by=thenotoriousmma]]
In 2017, McGregor was the most searched athlete on Google in the US, undoubtedly because of his recent forays into unexplored avenues. He even stepped out of the sport to take on Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring, with the event becoming the highest-grossing fight of all time. And while he lost, he looks like he's living pretty well off the stupendous amount of money he made, and is happy to go in the ring for a re-match.

Back in November, at Glasgow's An Evening with the Notorious Conor McGregor, he spoke about Mayweather and his odds at beating him in the future:
"What’s sickening me is that the little [expletive] is retired now. That’s what sickening me.
"I know if I went another go with him, under boxing rules, I'd get that win. I know that. I know after feeling him in that first fight, he had to change his whole approach. He couldn't figure out what I was doing early on. I feel with the lessons I learned, if I had another go around, I'd get it."
"Originally he [Mayweather] said an MMA bout next. He was talking about an MMA fight next," McGregor continued. "That's what he said before the fight. So, what’s that about?"

However, whether or not Mayweather and McGregor reunite to fight it out in one sport or another, McGregor still has plenty of work to get on with. Next month he will be facing off against Khabib Nurmagomedov, the current UFC lightweight champion.
UFC 229 takes place on October 6, and will see McGregor's fight headline the night. McGregor captured the lightweight title at UFC 205 back in 2016, but never defended the title, as he took time off last year due to the birth of his first son. It looks to be a popular night for fans of the sport, and an intense match between the two champions.
However, there hasn't exactly been much fanfare so far - at least, until McGregor released this montage of his training for the fight:

In the clip above, which the star shared without a caption to his Instagram page, McGregor can be seen doing drills, sparring, and conditioning.
Dropping this training montage may be the beginning of the hype cycle, but so far neither McGregor nor Nurmagomedov has said much about the fight. The UFC is reportedly frustrated with the lack of promotion over the upcoming fight, but this is likely to change once the first press conference comes around, knowing McGregor's personality.

If there's one thing Conor McGregor is, it's modest. The Irish-born fighter, who is estimated to have earned around $99 million in the last year, is known for his quiet, shy and unassuming nature.
While plenty of athletes are known for living extravagant lives full of watches, yachts, cars and jets, the same can't be said for McGregor. He never gets in trouble, is rarely in the headlines and loves nothing more than taking himself away from the eye of the media and retiring into the distance.
LOL.

Of course, I'm pulling your leg. Conor McGregor is a jacka** and he knows it. In fact, he revels in it. He loves it. It's his brand. Everything Conor McGregor does, sells and promotes is based upon him being the world's biggest jacka**.
But, for all the gusto, for all the bravado and arrogance, Conor McGregor has grown his fanbase ten-fold in the past year or two. His boxing match with Floyd Mayweather was the highest-grossing fight of all time and he was also the most 'Googled' athlete in the US last year. Basically, what I'm saying is: Conor McGregor is a pretty big deal right now and he knows it.

Even outside of the octagon or the ring, McGregor has that star quality that so many people lack. Allegations surrounding his private life dogged the fighter last year and it's also been reported that he ran into trouble with the Irish cartel and destroyed a bus of fighters during a UFC press event. So, it would be safe to say that McGregor knows how to keep his name in the headlines.
But what does a man, who - from the outside looking in - has it all, get for his birthday? Well, the answer will hardly surprise you.
On Saturday, July 14, Conor McGregor will be turning 30. Much like the rest of us, the fighter will more than likely be expecting a cake and some presents... oh, and a life-size statue of himself.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BkxykeSnyv6/?utm_source=ig_embed]]
In order to mark the milestone of McGregor's birth, Lithuanian artist Aspencrow, has spent much of the year sculpting a life-size statue of the UFC champion.
The statue depicts the Dubliner emerging from a block of stone and comes in three versions - two of which will be displayed in London galleries and one which will be gifted to McGregor himself.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BkS8A7uHWpt/?utm_source=ig_embed]]
Speaking about the design, Aspencrow said that he had attempted to combine inspiration from both the past and present in order to create the perfect piece:
"To create the piece, I looked back to antiquity, when athletes were immortalised in sculptures as gods. I combined some details from a Michelangelo statue with modern day graffiti to capture the present day’s warrior sensibilities."
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BkvCUSknl6q/?utm_source=ig_embed]]
The statue will be unveiled in London's JD Malat Gallery this weekend and has been dubbed as a heroic homage to the fighter.
Not a bad present to receive, right?
