We can deny our voyeuristic tendencies all we like, but at the the end of the day, we're always somewhat intrigued to see whether our favourite on-screen coupling has translated into a romantic liaison off-screen. And I mean, it's hard not to care - we see the same faces, day in and day out, on television shows, in of our favourite movies, on tabloids and just about everywhere on our social media feeds.
Now, while many of these affairs are clearly heading towards disaster, there are a still a few that are so perfect (at least superficially) that vast swathes of the internet, chiefly Instagram, choose to brand them as "couple goals". First there was Brangelina, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, and of course, Chrissy Teigan and John Legend.
But occasionally, as we learnt in the case of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, things don't always work out. And 2017 was another such year for celebrity heartbreak. Take a gander below.
After being involved for 10 years, the pair announced their separation in September via a joint statement which read, "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year."
Kylie confirmed her separation from Tyga in an episode of The Life of Kylie in August. She said, "There was no crazy fight. We decided, well, I decided, that I’m really young. I don’t want to look back in five years from now and feel like he took something from me, when he’s really not that type of person."
Celebrity couples are often a bit of a mixed bag, right? It's always cool to see two famous people hook up and get cosy with one another, and when they're a good match then the pairing can often be better than the sum of its parts. However, in the vast majority of cases, they don't seem to last very long. Maybe it's because the media can't give them any privacy, or because their personalities clash, but often they only seem to go out for a week or so before breaking up with other.
As a result of this, there are plenty of celebrities who have dated each other in the past, whom we've forgotten were ever an item. In fact, it can actually be quite jarring to see pictures of them with their former flame, if you're already used to their current partner. For example, did you know that Ryan Gosling and Sandra Bullock used to be an item? It's true! So for a blast from the past, scroll down to check out our list of the top 10 celebrities you've forgotten ever dated each other.

While we can't exactly call Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson star crossed lovers, it's evident that the young couple faced their fair share of adversity during their five months together.
Back in October, TMZ reported that Grande and Davidson had called off their engagement, with sources saying that the couple believed that it "simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off". While the pair is no longer romantically involved, they allegedly "still have love for each other."
Yesterday, Grande was honoured with the Woman of the Year award at a Billboard Women In Music 2018 event last night, and she gave a super emotional speech. The 25-year-old held back tears as she spoke candidly about what a challenging year this has been for her.
"This is really special. I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years in my career and, like, the worst of my life," Grande asserted after accepting the award.
"I'm not saying that for sympathy, I'm just saying that because I feel like a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now, I guess, like Woman of the Year, an artist that could be at her peak, like reaching her, you know, whatever, and think, 'She's really got her sh*t together, you know, like, she's really on it, she's got it all.' I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the f*ck I am doing. So yeah, it's been a very conflicting one. And I just want to say that if you're someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring, you're not alone in that."
This has been a pretty intense year for the pop-star - what with the untimely passing of her ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, and the end of her relationship with Pete Davidson.
In regards to the singer's purported split from the Saturday Night Live cast member, TMZ have since claimed that Grande has already given her $100,000 engagement ring back to Davidson. There was allegedly never any discussion of her keeping the 3.03 carat diamond, with a source saying "He bought it in contemplation of marriage, and she was quick to fork it over."
Grande and Davidson have been one of the most talked about couples of 2018, what with their whirlwind romance coming soon after the Sweetener singer's split from the late Mac Miller.
The pair were first spotted together in May, and from there, their PDA only intensified; they got matching tattoos, Grande devoted a track to the comedian on her most recent album, and rumours of a possible engagement began to swirl mid-June - something that was confirmed by Davidson during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
