Andrew Garfield has revealed that he wasn't cast in The Chronicles of Narnia because he "wasn't handsome enough".
The Spider-Man star recently reflected on his audition to play Prince Caspian in 2008's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, with the role eventually going to Ben Barnes.
"I remember I was so desperate," Garfield told Entertainment Tonight. "I auditioned for Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia and I thought, 'This could be it, this could be it.'
"And that handsome, brilliant actor Ben Barnes ended up getting the role. I think it was down to me and him, and I remember I was obsessed."
Garfield then recalled asking his agent why he hadn't been cast, saying: "She eventually just broke under my incessant nagging and she was like, 'It's because they don't think you’re handsome enough, Andrew.'
"Ben Barnes is a very handsome, talented man. So in retrospect, I'm not unhappy with the decision and I think he did a beautiful job."
It comes as Garfield revealed just how fun it was to repeatedly lie about his secret role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Garfield and fellow former Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire's appearance in Tom Holland's latest wall-crawling installment may have been the worst kept secret in Hollywood history - but that didn't stop fans from losing their minds when they both finally stepped through their respective portals and into the MCU.
It was a moment of fan service and decades-long storytelling that will truly go down in movie history. And despite many fans fearing that Garfield and Maguire would simply pop in for a cameo, the pair actually played a pivotal role in the second half of the movie.
Speaking to The Wrap, the actor revealed: "It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable. It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun."
Garfield added that the end result was being able to give people a "thrill" in the movie theater, although he did also say that he'll miss playing Werewolf with every Spider-Man fan in the world.
Following the release of No Way Home, Garfield has also revealed the one scene that "sold" him on returning as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
