Britney Spears has announced on her social media that she has changed her name.

The pop princess shared a series of posts on her Instagram, including one of her sporting a Coca-Cola two-piece while dancing to 'Attention' by Omah Lay and Justin Bieber.

In the caption of the video, Spears discussed her "manic meltdown" at a restaurant in Los Angeles - which was when footage obtained by TMZ showed her "yelling" and "speaking in gibberish" at Joey Restaurant in Woodland Hills. This allegedly prompted her then-husband Sam Asghari to storm out of the diner.

The 'Toxic' songstress addressed the claims, writing: "The news of me being tipsy in the news then exploiting my past is a clever way to make me look like a pardoned woman that we can look at and say AWWW."

A few hours later, the 'Stronger' hitmaker declared to her followers that she will be changing her name from Britney Spears to River Red.

Posting a photo of Mars, she wrote: "A bright one … easy does it !!! Thank you, childhood friend, I found my ball … don’t underestimate the power of purity !!!"

"I see right through it all … it has liquid and is wet … it’s playful and has mass !!! I changed my name to River Red!!! Yet the fire is where it illuminates … to stare at it and jump right in with no fear at all !!!!" she continued, adding: "S**t. Now I have to find my FORK!!!"

The Grammy winner then further solidified her new name by changing it on her Instagram profile.

The news comes after the superstar responded to rumors that the new heart tattoo she got while in Hawaii was dedicated to her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

The 'Oops... I Did It Again' singer first shared a playful video of herself dancing around in her hotel room. The video then cut to her holding out her arm so a tattoo artist could get to work inking what looked like a black heart on her right forearm.

But she instantly regretted the ink as she wrote in the caption: "Tattoo in Maui 3 days ago !!! Can’t show it because it sucks !!! Like really really sucks !!! S***!!! Psss … I have to fix it !!!"

However, due to the fan speculation about the print being linked to the 41-year-old 'Cry Me A River' singer, Spears explained on her Instagram Story: "Just to clarify... my tattoo had nothing to do with an ex in the past!!!"

"I simply did it because I wanted to!!! The pic with my ex is a time where there was less confusion on what it meant to be together... it is what it is," she added, per Daily Mail.

Spears was legally freed from her conservatorship in November 2021, and the legal situation saw the singer's personal and financial decisions controlled by her father Jamie Spears following her public breakdown in 2007.

Many of her followers had been worried about her welfare for many months, and even went as far as speculating that her then partner Sam Asghari was "controlling" her.

Speaking to TMZ, Ashgari addressed those concerns at the time and said: "No, I don’t even control what we have for dinner. You know, in the past, there has been a lot of stuff going on, so I understand where [fans are] coming from. They’re just being protective. If anything, they’re being good fans."
