Britney Spears has been invited to Congress by Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene after her recent conservatorship battle.

According to The Sun, the Republican lawmakers have asked the 39-year-old pop idol to come and meet with them in Washington, D.C. to discuss her fight in court to regain control of her multi-million dollar estate.

Per the above publication, the Georgia and Florida representatives, joined by Andy Briggs and Burgess Owens, wrote in a letter addressed to Britney on Wednesday, June 30, saying:

"Your story is so powerful, and the admiration of your achievements so great, you (and perhaps only you) can blow that door wide open, giving hope to millions."

The letter continues, per The Sun: "Your life, liberty, and happiness have been taken from you. Please take advantage of the empowerment that public congressional testimony can unlock.

"The United States Congress should hear your story and be inspired to bipartisan action. What happened to you should never happen to any other American."

Gaetz later stated in a tweet addressed to his 1 million followers on Twitter that he was entirely sincere in his efforts to meet with Spears, writing:

"@BurgessOwens @RepAndyBiggsAZ @RepMTG and I are very serious about guardianship and conservatorship reform. @britneyspears and so many of our fellow Americans deserve better. [sic]"

This comes not long after Britney testified in a virtual court appearance that her father had behaved abusively towards her since he gained conservatorship over her 13 years previously.

Per Variety, Spears stated that since 2008: "The control [my father] had over someone as powerful as me, as he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%. He loved it.

"I packed my bags and went to that place. I worked seven days a week, no days off, which in California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking."

However, court documents filed on Wednesday, June 30, show that Judge Penny decided to uphold Jamie Spear's conservatorship over his daughter, although she did allow the Bessemer Trust to act as co-conservator of the Spears estate.
