Britney Spears has taken to Instagram where she has opened up about her divorce from Sam Asghari, stating that she "couldn't take the pain anymore".
According to TMZ, Asghari cited "irreconcilable differences" as the primary factor behind the decision to end their marriage. Rumors of infidelity have also circulated during their time together, contributing to the unfortunate outcome.
Insiders revealed that the split was anticipated, with a source sharing, "It's only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce," shortly after news of their separation emerged.
Late on Wednesday, multiple sources confirmed that Asghari had initiated the divorce proceedings by filing the necessary legal papers.
The breakup took a concrete step as Asghari moved out of Spears' Thousand Oaks residence.
Following the sudden split, Spears has spoken out on Instagram, matched with a video of herself dancing in her home.
The star wrote: "As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business."
Spears went on: "I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you."
The 'Toxic' hitmaker explained that she had been "playing it strong" and the version of herself that she portrays on social media isn't true to what was happening behind the scenes.
"I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses," she said. "If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors."
Stating that she needed her family the most and wanted to be loved unconditionally, Spears concluded: "So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!"
Asghari and Spears' romantic journey commenced when they crossed paths on the set of her 'Slumber Party' music video in 2016.
During a 2017 interview, Spears fondly reminisced, "I was like, 'He was really cute, this guy was really cute,' so I called him. He's just a really fun, funny person."
The couple's connection persisted, eventually culminating in their marriage in June 2022.
Before proposing to the music icon the preceding year, Asghari, who hails from Iran, candidly shared insights into the initial stages of their relationship. He expressed his desire to start a family with the 'Baby One More Time' singer.
In a March 2021 interview with Forbes, he disclosed, "My priorities in life are to remain humble and understand where I came from and where I'm going. I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting. I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don't mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad."
It would seem that Spears is doing okay, and is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life.
