Cardi B has been made Playboy's first-ever creative director in residence, in what she describes as a "dream come true."
The 29-year-old rapper shared the news in an Instagram post on Thursday, in which she can be sporting Playboy's iconic bunny on a large silver chain.
The collage-style post was overlaid with text reading "legacy of fighting for personal freedoms," "I run this s*** like cardio," and "a dream come true." In the caption, the Grammy-winner also described her excitement over her new role.
"Introducing the FIRST EVER Creative Director In Residence at the legendary @playboy, it's ME!!!" she wrote. "Joining the @playboy family is a dream and I know yall are going to love what we put together.
"I'm starting [sic] this party right as the Founding Creative Director and a founding member of CENTERFOLD the new creator-led platform from Playboy coming soon!!"
"We're going to have soooooo much fun," she added.
Playboy also announced the news in a similar Instagram post. "Today is a Playboy milestone: we want to welcome our first ever Creative Director in Residence, the icon, @iamcardib to the family," its caption reads.
Playboy then quotes Cardi as saying: “It’s a dream come true to officially join the Playboy family. I can’t believe this is real.
"For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt connected to Playboy. It’s truly the original platform for uncensored creativity and I’m inspired by its incredible legacy of fighting for personal freedoms. I have so many ideas already – I can’t wait!”
In a press release about her appointment, Cardi B goes on to discuss CENTERFOLD - the new creator-led platform she will be helping Playboy to launch, People reports.
"Creators today deserve to express themselves freely and unfiltered. They deserve to feel safe in their creativity and sexuality. And they deserve to own their future. This is what CENTERFOLD is all about."
The rapper went on to describe it as a platform "for all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things." The social content platform is expected to launch in the next few months.
CEO of PLBY Group Ben Kohn described the musician as a "creative genius" and said he was "absolutely thrilled and honored" to have her on board.
"Through her unapologetic commitment to free expression, her dedication to lifting up artistic voices, and her celebration of sex and body positivity, Cardi is the embodiment of the Playboy brand," he added.
