Tammy Slaton is proudly showcasing her remarkable weight loss journey while enjoying some quality time with her "spiritual sister" Haley Michelle.
The 1000-Lb. Sisters star has been making headlines this month as she has proudly been showcasing her 440lb weight loss. Slaton was 725lbs when she underwent bariatric surgery in July 2022 to kickstart her weight loss journey.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday (April 24), 37-year-old Slaton and 30-year-old Michelle are seen standing near a body of water, their arms intertwined.
Michelle captioned the photo with heartfelt words, describing their bond as "Spiritual Sisters" and emphasizing their unbreakable connection. "Our powerful connection we don’t have to explain anything to anyone," the caption added.
The duo, both dressed in all black, exude confidence in the snapshot. Slaton's dress hangs off her shoulders, revealing a flowery tattoo, as she radiates positivity over her newfound weight loss.
However, amidst the celebration of friendship and support, some of Slaton's followers have raised concerns about Michelle's intentions, accusing her of exploiting the friendship for personal gain.
Michelle shot down any accusations that she was "using" Tammy, telling one person in a comment: "I’ve been friends with Tammy for years I’ve had 2 million tiktok followers and over 120 thousand Instagram followers before I even knew her I’ve made my own success.
"I don’t need to use Tammy and I’m not that king of person at all. Tammy is a really good judge of character if she felt like I was that kind of person she would have nothing to do with me.
"I love her she is my best friend and I would never hurt her and I would never use her. Our friendship is 100% genuine and you would see that if you saw us together."
"I understand everyone’s concerns, but is it because I’m a pretty blonde? It shouldn’t matter how I look," Michelle continued. "I would be friends with Tammy even if she wasn’t famous! Everyone deserves friends in life and just because I’m Tammy’s friend shouldn’t mean I’m out to use her for clout!"
Earlier in the week, fans went wild after Slaton and Michelle enjoyed a trip to a local pool.
Michelle shared a picture of their feet dipped in the water, expressing pride in Slaton's weight loss journey with the caption: "Proud of you #tammyslatonweightloss."
Fans rushed to the comments section of the Instagram post to shower Slaton with compliments - with one person writing: "Holy wow! The transformation is incredible! So happy to see how far you have come I may have cried a little."
Another said: "Look at you, girl! That is a JOURNEY," while a third commented: "You got to swim! So happy for you! I know how much you love to do it so that's so great to see."
Slaton's incredible transformation has been a focal point for fans of the TLC reality show. Having lost more than 400 pounds - largely due to undergoing gastric bypass surgery in September 2022 - Slaton has been open about her journey to better health.
According to the Mayo Clinic: "Bariatric surgery is done when diet and exercise haven’t worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight. Some weight-loss procedures limit how much you can eat."
"Others work by reducing the body’s ability to absorb fat and calories. Some procedures do both," the website reads.
Reflecting on her decision to undergo surgery, Slaton explained: "I was able to make my lungs strong enough to get my [tracheostomy tube for breathing] out, and then recently the doctor cleared me to be off my oxygen machine during the daytime."
