Wax museums are a weird tourist attraction, but they've had an enduring appeal for two hundred years. You have to admit, it's odd to fork some over some cash just to gawk at models of celebrities. I guess the appeal lies in taking funny photos with the figures, and seeing just how big or small the stars are, if you were to meet them in real life. After all, each sculpture is based on the measurements of the real person. Experts say it takes roughly 350 hours of work to complete each figure.
Of course, some wax museums are better than others. Madame Tusseauds is the most famous franchise, and the most reputable, displaying incredibly lifelike figures at museums all over the world. However, by every Madame Tusseauds, there's a cheap knock-off place, where they don't put in nearly as much time, money and effort into crafting figurines. Rather than looking like a reasonable facsimile, the models look like evil creepy nightmare dolls that will rise to life at the stroke of midnight to attack us all.
Here are 20 of the most horrific celebrity waxworks ever made.
1. Zac Efron2. Nicole Kidman3. Leonardo DiCaprio4. Beyonce5. Oprah Winfrey6. Justin Bieber7. Jennifer Lopez8. Brad Pitt9. Another Brad Pitt10. Michelle Obama11. Robert Pattinson12. Jennifer Aniston13. Ben Affleck14. Britney Spears15. Prince William16. Naomi Campbell17. Donald Trump18. Another Donald Trump19. Nicki Minaj20. Kim KardashianOkay, actually that Kim Kardashian figure might not belong on this list. I can't tell the difference between the wax Kim and the real Kim. But that may be more of a testament to the real Kim's waxiness than the wax Kim's realism. On an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, they should replace the real Kim with the wax Kim, and see if anyone notices.
Well, although wax museums are odd, most of us have visited one at some point. The weirdness is part of the experience. Most of us will never get a chance to meet these celebrities, and even if you do, they might not be in the mood to take a photo. Still, if you're going to visit to a wax museum, stick with Madame Tusseauds, or do your research first. If you go to a cheap knock-off, you might see slipshod figures like these, and have nightmares for weeks.
