Bruce Springsteen has announced the death of his 98-year-old mother, and has taken to social media to post a tribute.
In a touching video posted on Instagram, Springsteen reminisced about their special moments, sharing a clip of them dancing together in a garden.
The 74-year-old artist expressed his grief, revealing that Adele Springsteen had passed away on Wednesday.
"I remember in the morning, mom hearing your alarm clock ring," Springsteen wrote in his post, quoting lyrics from his song, 'The Wish', dedicated to his mother. "I'd lie in bed and listen to you getting ready for work, the sound of your makeup case on the sink."
He continued: "And the ladies at the office, all lipstick, perfume, and rustling skirts, how proud and happy you always looked walking home from work."
Springsteen concluded the emotional post with a message: "I've got my hot rod down on Bond Street, I'm older but you'll know me in a glance. We'll find us a Little rock 'n roll bar and we'll go out and dance."
The cause of Adele's death has not been immediately disclosed, but it is known that she had been battling Alzheimer's for more than a decade.
Springsteen had previously opened up about his mother's struggle with Alzheimer's during a Broadway performance in 2021, describing the toll it took on her, per Sky News.
Despite the challenges, he shared moments of joy, emphasizing how she still recognized him with a smile and a special sound that meant "I love you."
Adele was no stranger to being on stage with her son, as she was a familiar face during performances, often joining him for the fan-favorite 'Dancing In The Dark'.
Despite her health challenges, Adele continued to make on-stage appearances during 'Twist And Shout' at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium in 2012. Even at the age of 90, she rocked out alongside her son during 'Ramrod' at New York's Madison Square Garden in March 2016.
People took to the comments of Springsteen's Instagram post to offer their condolences, as one person said: "You dancing on stage with your mom in London back in 2013 was a moment of pure joy. She was proud of you, you were proud of her and we ALL revelled in the love and affection."
A second said: "We will remember the great moments seeing Bruce dancing with Adele in the concerts. And the incredible shows in Broadway. Our heart and our better wishes of strong."
A third person added: "She was a wonderful light in this world. Always love watching her dance at your shows. Praying for peace and comfort for you and the whole family."
