Amber Heard's sister Whitney Henriquez has taken to social media to share a statement after the Aquaman star lost a high-profile defamation trial to Johnny Depp on Wednesday.

Depp and his ex Heard were suing each other over a 2018 op-ed the actress wrote for The Washington Post. The Pirates of the Caribbean star had been seeking $50 million in damages. Heard, on the other hand, was seeking an eye-watering $100 million.

Jurors found that Depp was entitled to $10 million in compensatory damages and punitive damages of $5 million. However, as Virginia state law caps punitive damages at $350,000, Depp will actually be awarded $10.35 million.

Meanwhile, the jury has awarded Heard $2 million in damages based on her $100 million countersuit. This means the actress owes her former husband $8.35 million.

There's no denying that public opinion swayed substantially in Depp's favor. However, since the Edward Scissorhands star won the trial, as decided by a seven-person jury, there has been much talk about survivors of domestic abuse potentially being discouraged from speaking out.

One person who continues to rally around the 36-year-old actress is her sister, 34-year-old Henriquez, who testified in the trial, claiming that Depp had hit her and then wanted her to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Henriquez continued to throw her support behind her older sister. She posted an image of a black square with "#istandwithamberheard" written in white letters.

The picture was accompanied by a lengthy caption in which she wrote: "Yesterday, today, and tomorrow I will always be proud of you for standing up for yourself, for testifying both here in Virginia and in the UK, and for being the voice of so many who can’t speak to the things that happen behind closed doors.

"We knew that this was going to be an uphill battle and that the cards were stacked against us. But you stood up and spoke out regardless. I am so honored to testify for you, and I would do it a million times over because I know what I saw and because the truth is forever on your side.

"I’m so sorry that it wasn’t reflected in the decision made by this jury, but I will never give up on you, and neither will anyone who stands with you. Forever by your side."
