Amy Schumer has never been one to hold back when discussing the details of her comedy films. When she wrote and starred in the 2015 hit comedy Trainwreck, audiences were treated to an unforgettable and highly graphic bedroom sequence.
The memorable moment featured WWE legend John Cena playing her character's fitness-obsessed boyfriend, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
Over the years, a massive rumor circulated regarding just how real that specific moment actually was. Schumer herself fueled the fire during promotional tours, making comedic claims that went viral across the internet. At one point, she openly joked that the wrestler turned actor was literally inside her while the cameras were rolling.
However, the comedian later cleared up the truth behind the scene and addressed the rumors regarding a prop that was used on set.
During an appearance on Opie Radio, the discussion turned to a US Weekly report claiming that a stunt piece was used during filming. Schumer confirmed the rumor, recalling a funny interaction with the film's prop master, Jimmy Mizola.
While speaking on the radio show, Schumer recalled walking past the prop department during production. She asked the prop master, "What are you doing?" And he's like, "I'm making John's dick." And I was like, "Carry on."
One of the hosts then joked about the situation, saying, "He's like a perverted Japetto. Yeah. Trying to bring this to life." When asked what the object was crafted from, she confirmed it was wood.
The radio confirmation stands in hilarious contrast to the wild comments Schumer made while speaking to MTV Australia. During that interview, she stunned listeners by joking about Cena's anatomy and physical presence during their shoot.
“He was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him? It’s a whole universe, that butt. It’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.”
She did not stop there with her comedic commentary. She continued to joke about her own performance versus Cena's physical effort during the scene. “I think it was probably harder for him.
"He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have sex. Just lay there." Schumer also expressed a playful disappointment regarding the shoot, telling the outlet, "You know what? I didn’t get to feel his balls. It’s a major regret of mine. Major regret."
While Schumer looked back on the production with absolute humor, the sequence caused real discomfort for Cena and his fiancée at the time, Nikki Bella.
Bella later revealed on her reality show that watching the film completely impacted her personal life. “Imagine watching your man do a sex scene and have the whole world see his big butt. You know, you get visuals. I swear, I couldn’t masturbate [in like] forever because I just think of the sex scene."
Cena later admitted that filming the sequence was highly awkward and caused tension at home because he failed to warn his partner in advance.
Speaking to Fox News, the actor expressed regret over how he handled the situation. “Yeah, it was uncomfortable. I never thought I would get the part in the first place. Then I got the part and was thinking I have to be naked. It was nerve-racking.”
He added that his partner had every right to be upset with him. “Nicole had every right to be mad because I should have told her from the beginning,” he stated.
Reflecting further on his experience during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay Podcast, he concluded, "So it's real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you're making fun of yourself."

Amy Schumer once made a wildly explicit joke about filming her sex scene with John Cena in the 2015 comedy Trainwreck, claiming during an interview that the wrestler-turned-actor was “actually inside” her while the cameras were rolling.
Schumer joked that Cena’s modesty was “just about protected” during the shoot, which led her to deliver a series of over-the-top comments that stunned the hosts and audience.
She said: “He was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him? It’s a whole universe, that butt. It’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.”
Schumer went on to joke about the physical demands of the scene, adding: “I think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have sex. Just lay there.”

He added that his future wife, Nicole, had “every right" to be upset because he didn’t tell her ahead of time that he would be doing a sex scene. “Nicole had every right to be mad because I should have told her from the beginning,” he said.
Trainwreck, in which Schumer plays a commitment-averse party girl, with Cena as her fitness-obsessed boyfriend, became well known for that unexpectedly graphic comedy sequence – and Schumer’s outrageous retelling of how it all went down has only fueled the moment’s lasting notoriety.

Amy Schumer hasn't been shy in talking about her sex scene with John Cena over the years.
The pair starred in the 2015 comedy Trainwreck, which Schumer also happened to write, with the likes of Brie Larson and Bill Hader helping to make up the star-studded cast.
While the film has some good laughs in it, the title is primarily remembered by the masses for the fairly graphic and fairly comedic sex scene between Cena and Schumer.
Cena, playing the gym-obsessed boyfriend of Schumer's character, put in a memorable performance, as he could be seen with a towel over his parts at the end of their steamy scene.
Schumer, though, has made jokes about the scene, going as far as claiming that the WWE legend was “actually inside” her while the cameras were rolling.
In fact, she said that Cena was “just about protected” during shooting, going on to stun listeners with more claims.
Speaking about the scene to MTV Australia, she said: “He was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him? It’s a whole universe, that butt. It’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.”

WWE star Nikki Bella, also known as Nikki Garcia, previously said that the steamy scene ruined her solo sex sessions.
Apparently, seeing her then-boyfriend getting it on with another woman on-screen was a huge turn-off, putting her off pleasuring herself altogether.
Speaking on her reality show in the past, Bella said that she couldn't unsee the scenes, explaining: “Imagine watching your man do a sex scene and have the whole world see his big butt.
“You know, you get visuals. I swear, I couldn’t masturbate [in like] forever because I just think of the sex scene."
Bella and Cena first started dating in 2012 before getting engaged in front of thousands of wrestling fans at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, though the wedding was called off just months later.
The couple would endure a public split in 2018 after Cena admitted he did not want children, just weeks before the ceremony.
They have remained close friends ever since, and Bella would go on to marry and divorce Dancing with the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev.

Amy Schumer isn’t one to shy away from sharing the raw details—and her memories of filming with John Cena for Trainwreck are no exception.
The comedian got up close and personal with WWE star John Cena in the 2015 rom-com, where Cena played Steven, a muscular gym addict and one of Amy’s many flings before she falls for the film’s leading man.
The scene between them didn’t hold back—and neither does Amy when she talks about it.
During an appearance on an Australian chat show The Project, Amy was asked how she kept a straight face during the racy bedroom scene. Her response? “Because he was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him?”
Bill Hader, who also starred in the film, chimed in at the time: “Wrestlers, they're not faking. When they're wrestlers they don't fake!” Amy added: “It’s real.”
Schumer had nothing but awe—and a little disbelief—about Cena’s physique. “It’s a whole universe, that butt… it’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.”

John Cena himself described the scene quite differently when asked about it. Speaking on Conan in 2015, he admitted: “It was awkward. And they wanted awkward so we gave them awkward.”
He wasn’t even sure he’d land the role in the first place. “Honestly I didn’t think I’d get the part. And I kept putting it off not telling [wife Nicole Bella] and not having the discussion of, ‘Hey there may be some graphic scenes.’”
In a separate interview with Fox News, he said: “It was uncomfortable. I never thought I would get the part in the first place. Then I got the part and was thinking I have to be naked. It was nerve wracking.

WWE legend-turned-actor John Cena revealed that he didn't tell his partner about a steamy scene he shot for a film back in 2015.
Cena starred alongside Amy Schumer in the comedy film Trainwreck, which was also written by the latter.
The cast also included the likes of Brie Larson, Bill Hader, and NBA superstar LeBron James in a title that featured several memorable scenes.
One of those included a hilarious sex scene between Cena's gym-obsessed character and Schumer's, who was less-than-impressed.
Schumer has spoken about the graphic scene a number of times over the years, which ended with Cena placing a towel over his parts after they had, err, relations.
But the former has joked that Cena was “actually inside” her while the cameras were rolling, claiming that the then-engaged man was “just about protected."
When the film came out, Cena was dating fellow WWE superstar Nikki Bella, real name Nicole Garcia, and he later admitted that he kept the sex scene with Schumer under wraps at first.

“So I got it and I couldn’t say no, so I kind of walked in one day and was like, ‘Hey, I’m kind of just doing this.’ And that was the wrong approach.”
