Amy Schumer shares new update on shock diagnosis she received after internet joked about her 'moon face'

Amy Schumer has provided an update on her health after she deleted all of her photos on social media and was trolled for having a ‘moon face’.

The 44-year-old star has been honest about her health struggles before now, and opened up on a podcast about the decision to erase her previous pics.

Amy Schumer was trolled for her ‘moon face’ - but there’s a serious health reason

The comedian and actor has spoken in the past about her diagnosis with Cushing syndrome, a condition that develops from high-level exposure to stress hormone cortisol, as well as other health complications.

In an Instagram video explaining a little about her condition, Schumer said: "I want so much for women to love themselves and be relentless when fighting for their own health in a system that usually doesn't believe them.”

The symptoms of Cushing syndrome include easily-bruising skin, carrying fat on the neck and shoulders more than usual, and - in Schumer’s case - a round face.

The condition has previously been linked to steroid injections, which Schumer has had after treatment to help with breast reduction and C-section surgery scarring.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast, Schumer explained how she came to develop the condition.

She said: "So I got these was getting these steroid injections and so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome — which I wouldn't have known if the internet hadn't come for me so hard."

Schumer was accused of deleting all of her social media photos ‘for no reason’ but clearly rejects that notion.

It had been suggested that the reason she deleted them could have been because she has since lost a lot of weight, but Schumer was quick to set the record straight.

She wrote: "Hey media outlets, I didn’t delete my old photos because they were pre me losing weight.

“That’s a narrative you created. I’m proud of how I’ve looked always.

“I have been working to be pain free and I finally am.

"My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal.

“I am grateful to be strong and healthy especially for my son.”

She continued: "But your Instagram is not your identity it’s a curation of what you want the world to see and I feel great strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that. I didn’t purposely go on a 'weight loss journey' that’s a fine thing to go on.

"My focus has been on health. I’m sure my weight will always fluctuate. I’m a perimenopausal woman on HRT meds."

Schumer concluded: “Wishing you strength and self love on whatever path you’re on as long as it’s kind and respectful to all people.

“No matter their weight race or religion peace!"

She then shared another picture on her updated Instagram profile on November 12, marking the start of a new era.
