Despite being one of the most gorgeous women in Hollywood, Angelina Jolie has infamously remained single and silent about her love life since her public split with ex-husband Brad Pitt almost a decade ago.
For the first time since the high-profile divorce, the Maleficent star has commented on her love life and revealed that her new role in Couture has inspired her to move on.
In her latest movie, Jolie plays an American filmmaker who gets diagnosed with breast cancer while working at Paris Fashion Week. The character she plays, Maxine Walker, has a young daughter but also an active love life, dating cinematographer Anton, played by Louis Garrel.
Heartwarmingly, since filming, Jolie, 51, opened up about how playing the character has made her realize you can still date while being focused on your kids.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, the mother of six said: “To be candid, I haven’t dated since I divorced a decade ago.
“So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centered in my life if I’m focusing on my children, my family.”
Jolie also spoke about her six children that she shares with Pitt, Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17, saying that they have encouraged her to explore her life outside of being a mother.
She said, “I think in some way they’re bringing me back to my old self.
“My desire for them to have all of the strength and openness and softness and faith and ferocity is reminding me. I think they kind of want me now to not just be ‘Mom.'”
As her youngest children teeter on the edge of adulthood, Jolie told Variety that her “fighting spirit” is returning after she “lost it for a bit”, and she owes it to her large brood.
She said, “It’s coming back in large part thanks to my children, who are now older, and encouraging it.
“My kids are almost all 18, so now they want to see me traveling the world.”
It is no surprise that Jolie felt her life centred almost exclusively around her offspring as ex Pitt has had notoriously little to do with them since the couple’s split.
While the family has been rather private about their estrangement from Pitt, most of the six children have made their distance from their father clear by dropping his name.
In May 2024, when Shiloh, the former couple’s eldest biological child, turned 18, she filed paperwork to legally drop Pitt from her double-barreled surname, making her just Shiloh Jolie.
Since then, most of her five siblings have followed suit.
