Armie Hammer has opened up why he took up construction as a hobby during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday (6 October), the Call Me By Your Name actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he discussed how he spent much of his time in quarantine: working in the construction field with a friend.
"I have been productive. I've been really fortunate. I mean look, the world's falling apart, it's the apocalypse, but funny enough, my buddy Ashton [Ramsey] bought an old motel out in the desert," Hammer told the talk show host of the Twentynine Palms property near Joshua Tree National Park.
Hammer, who was dressed in an astronaut suit during his appearance, added: "It was this kind of abandoned, rundown motel, and I came back from the Cayman Islands where I was during quarantine and I was like, 'Dude, I have nothing to do.' He was like, 'Do you wanna come live with me in this abandoned motel and do construction with me?'"

Kimmel interrupted, and jokingly said: "You say no, right? 'Of course not, that's terrible. I'm a movie star, that's the last thing I want to do.'"
"Do you think I had anything else better going on?" Hammer hilariously answered. "I was literally sitting at home picking boogers and seeing how far I could flick them. I was really out of options."
When the actor was asked if he has a knack for handiwork, he quipped: "Funny enough, everything except a hammer. Just seemed too close to home."

"It wasn't anything like... I'm not doing electrical work — look at me," he added. "Would you trust me to touch wires? No way."
In late August, Hammer revealed that he had been doing construction work for two months.
"This one of my best friends, Ashton. For the last 2 months or so I have lived with Ashton, worked construction with Ashton, and hiked with Ashton every day," he wrote on Instagram. "He has been such a good friend (and boss) and has been the most supportive friend anyone could ever ask for. Today might be my birthday, but I just wanna say thank you to @ashtonramsey and say I love you dude."

Since the coronavirus outbreak began, celebrities haven't exactly been shy about sharing their personal experiences and responses to the pandemic.
Earlier this week, Hilary Duff addressed the "millennial a**holes" who continue to party instead of self-isolating, Vanessa Hudgens told her fans that self-quarantining until the summer "sounds like a bunch of bullsh*t" and A-listers such as Tom Hanks and Idris Elba are openly sharing their positive test results with their fans.
And now singer Sam Smith has taken to Instagram to share what they describe as the "stages of a quarantine meltdown". In their most recent post, Smith uploaded three snaps in which they seem to get progressively more distraught as they contend with self-isolation. They captioned the shots, "Thinking of you all x."

The 27-year-old also posted three videos, explaining how they were coping amid the pandemic.
Smith said in the video: "Hello everyone! This is a weird, weird, weird time, oh my gosh, very, very strange. I'm currently in my house. I have got a bit of a headache and allergies but I think I'm alright. But I wanted to stay in just to be safe.

"This is a weird time. I wanted to reach out to every one of you right now, and send my love. I hope you're okay."
They added: "I hope you're mentally alright. It's going to be challenging for anyone who gets in here a little bit, like me.

"I just want to bring home and say how important this time right now is for all of us to remain a unit and look out for each other.
"All the older people - I'm worrying about my nan right now, I'm worrying about so many people. 'Be patient and giving, and share things - share food people!"
Smith continued:
"This is going to be an odd and different few weeks. I am going to try and do as much as I can to help. All I can really do - I am pretty s**t at everything else - but I can sing. 'So if I'm better in a few days I am going to play some songs and record them. And we can hopefully all have a little sing song together. It would be nice, we need it, music is a beautiful thing in a time like this."

They concluded by telling their fans: "I love you all very much. Please stay safe. Drink loads of water. Read. I hate reading. Do things to keep busy. I am going to watch TV because I'm bored s**tless!"
Smith lives in the United Kingdom, where there are currently 2,716 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 138 deaths.

Jim Carrey is well-known for being one of the funniest actors alive, and after playing the part of the villainous Dr Eggman in the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, he's reminded us all of what a versatile performer he is.
But Carrey also moonlights as another kind of artist altogether: namely, a satirical caricaturist, whose NSFW cartoons skewer political figures every other week.
The 'Dumb and Dumber' actor recently caught flak for a comment he made to Margot Robbie on 'The Graham Norton Show':

Now, Carrey has shared a brand-new work of art with his Twitter followers, which attacks President Donald Trump over his response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking to Twitter, Carrey uploaded a picture of his latest creation, which showed a sleeping President Donald Trump surrounded by cartoon representations of the virus sneaking around his bed.
Carrey captioned the post: "As cases of COVID-19 double every three days in NYC, the President reassures Wall Street that he can handle the important tissues. [sic]"
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/JimCarrey/status/1242561607588143104]]
Carrey also uploaded a picture of Senator Richard Burr who reportedly sold stocks in January after he was told about the imminent economic threat posed to the economy by the pandemic in private congressional health briefings.
On a lighter note, the actor has also sarcastically begun documenting the growth of his facial hair while in isolation during the pandemic. Uploading a selfie, Carrey captioned his post: "Day 1. I’m growing a beard until we all go back to work. I’ll post reg pics so you can marvel at the miracle of my meaningless transformation. [sic]"
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/JimCarrey/status/1241534770477060096]]
He added: "Normally, I try to stay on the cutting edge of entertainment. Now I shall conquer the uncutting edge. Please join me. #letsgrowtogether [sic]"

Comedian and writer Ricky Gervais has slammed celebrities for using their platforms to preach to the public amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, for example, fed his ponies while urging fans to stop going outside:
[[jwplayerwidget||https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/QgnD8vfZ-sKUnNGKf.mp4||QgnD8vfZ]]
He proceeded to reference Gal Gadot's Imagine video, which sparked outrage online from people who would have preferred its celebrity participants to donate to coronavirus relief efforts instead of simply singing.
Admitting that the Imagine video was likely well-intentioned on BBC's Five Live, Ricky mused: "That Imagine video, it's not that bad, they're probably very nice people."
"It was an awful rendition, but they might have been doing it for good reasons, to help these normal nobodies.But they're going 'My film's coming up and I'm not on telly - I need to be in the public eye', not all of them but some of them.
You can see in their eye - 'I could cry at the beauty of my personality, I'm just so beautiful for doing this' and everyone sees that - we get it."
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/sidetolaufer/status/1240429770137100291]]
Gervais then slammed singer Sam Smith, who also caused a storm when they posted photographs of themselves crying earlier in the pandemic. Photographs that they dubbed their "stages of quarantine meltdown".
Rick scoffed: "For a start, you won't hear me complain - not when there's nurses doing 14 hours shifts - and frontline workers carrying on and risking their health.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me... I go for walks on Hampstead Heath, and we've got a garden.
"There are people in high rise blocks with three kids - I can't complain, this is why millionaires in their mansions with their gym and going for a swim can't lecture people."
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/B-SJUgHnFxp/]]
The 58-year-old star concluded: "People are sick of being lectured, multi-millionaires telling them to clean out their coffee jar and put it in the right bin - they know those celebs are taking private jets to their private islands. They are sick of it."

British comedian Ricky Gervais has slammed celebrities for moaning about having to adhere to lockdown rules from their "mansions", while key workers risk their lives on the frontline against COVID-19.
Check out the trailer for the second season of Gervais' After Life:
[[jwplayerwidget||https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/hMQGh6Gx-Q0L14jDU.mp4||hMQGh6Gx]]
Speaking to UK tabloid The Sun, Gervais said: "After this is over I never want to hear people moaning about the welfare state again, I never want to hear people moaning about nurses again. Or porters.
“These people are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining. Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families’ health selflessly."
"Then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool. And, you know, honestly, I just don’t want to hear it."
Last month, singer Sam Smith took to social media to share what they described as the "stages of a quarantine meltdown". In a post that has since been deleted, Smith uploaded three photos in which they seem to get progressively more distraught as they contend with self-isolation. They captioned the shots, "Thinking of you all x."
The 27-year-old has also posted several videos, explaining how they were coping amid the pandemic.

Speaking about his humble childhood in Reading, England, Gervais talked about his laborer father and carer mother. He said: "Men worked hard, but women worked miracles. Because when my dad finished his work that was his own time.
"But my mum didn’t stop working, women didn’t stop working. Carers didn’t stop working, all the women in my family were carers in some respect."
Ricky added that in growing up he soon realized that the best things in life are not materialistic, saying: "Friends, nature, learning, and healthcare. And that’s why I gladly pay my taxes. And that’s why I clap the NHS."

During the coronavirus lockdown, our typical beauty regimes have gone out the window, with many people uploading hilarious videos of quarantine haircut fails to the internet.
Now, Cardi B has shared a video of herself screaming in agony as she appears to get a bikini wax during the coronavirus lockdown.
In the clip, the 27-year-old singer can be seen wearing a face mask and shouting at a woman named Erica, who is performing the painful procedure.
Watch the singer scream through her face mask below:
[[jwplayerwidget||https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/AEH4q0FA-sKUnNGKf.mp4||AEH4q0FA]]
"Today is pain day," Cardi told her followers before the wax, fully expecting it to hurt.
The rapper then screams before the wax begins and shouts for her nail technician to hold her hand. She is then reassured by the beautician, but despite this says "no, wait" before screaming again.
This, however, is far from the first time that Cardi B has hit the headlines during the pandemic. She shouted "coronavirus" in a now-viral Instagram video, where she told her 63.3 million followers that the global pandemic was the reason why their packages weren't arriving on time.
Cardi B also slammed the ability of celebrities to get coronavirus tests more easily than the general public on Instagram.
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/B-IpR_DgoTx/]]
Referring to the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump, Cardi said: "If number 45 is getting on a podium saying, 'Hey, listen if you do not have any symptoms of the coronavirus' which is coughing, fever and whatsoever etc, etc 'do not get tested because we don't have enough tests to test everybody'.
"But if a celebrity is saying, 'Hey, listen I don't have no symptoms, I'm feeling good, I feel healthy, I don't feel like nothing, but I went and got tested and I'm positive for the coronavirus'. That cause confusion."
Per the John Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, at the time of writing, there have been 2,980,053 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus worldwide, and a global death toll of 206,640.
