Billie Eilish says she's 'obviously not happy with her body' as she talks social media pressures

Billie Eilish has spoken out about her relationship with her body as she discusses the pressures of social media.

The 19-year-old chart-topper is currently celebrating the release of her new album Happier Than Ever, but has revealed in an interview with The Guardian that fans shouldn't confuse her confidence with happiness in her appearance.

Eilish - who showed off a style overhaul of sorts back in May when she graced the cover of British Vogue - discussed how she and her father used to talk about people who always want to look good.

"It’s such a loss to always try to always look good. It’s such a loss of joy and freedom in your body," she told The Guardian.

Discussing the pressures of social media and the slew of Instagram-perfect images people are bombarded with on a daily basis, the singer said: "I see people online, looking like I’ve never looked and immediately I am like, oh my God, how do they look like that?

"I know the ins and outs of this industry, and what people actually use in photos, and I actually know what looks real can be fake. Yet I still see it and go, 'oh God, that makes me feel really bad.'"

The singer continued: "And I mean, I’m very confident in who I am, and I’m very happy with my life… I’m obviously not happy with my body but who is?"

Earlier this year, Eilish faced criticism on social media for ditching the look that she had become associated with - baggy clothes and black and green hair.

Opting for new blonde locks and more of a sultry French boudoir look in her Vogue photo shoot, some people branded Eilish a "hypocrite".

However, Eilish was quick to hit back at the comments, simply telling haters that the amount of clothing she wears should have nothing to do with the respect you receive. She told British Vogue:

"Suddenly you're a hypocrite if you want to show your skin, and you're easy and you’re a slut and you're a wh**e. If I am, then I'm proud.

"Me and all the girls are h**s, and f**k it, y'know? Let's turn it around and be empowered in that. Showing your body and showing your skin – or not – should not take any respect away from you."

Elsewhere in the interview, the singer opened up on her decision to wear a corset.

She added: "[People might say,] 'If you're about body positivity, why would you wear a corset? Why wouldn't you show your actual body?' My thing is that I can do whatever I want. It's all about what makes you feel good."
