Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez have announced in a statement on social media that their newborn son has tragically died.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, April 18, the 37-year-old Manchester United star shared a written statement that read: "It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel."
Per the Daily Mail, the soccer star revealed back in October that the couple was expecting twins.
Today’s statement from the couple reveals that their baby boy tragically passed away - but that their baby girl survived.
The statement continued: "Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support."

The pair went on to say: "We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time."
They concluded the statement: "Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."
The couple announced that they were expecting twins back in October, with each of them writing on Instagram: "Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love - we can’t wait to meet you."
The soccer player also has four other children - eldest son Cristiano Jr., twins Eva Maria and Mateo, and youngest Alana Martina.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez got engaged back in September 2020, after dating for more than five years.
Rodriguez, 28, moved to Manchester, England, after Ronaldo returned to Manchester United amid the 2021 summer transfer window.
