Chris Pratt has taken to social media to reveal how he was feeling "upset and depressed" following a recent post about wife Katherine Schwarzenegger receiving backlash.

Earlier this week, the 42-year-old Marvel star took to Instagram to praise his wife in a pre-birthday celebration post.

The actor's gushing post read: "Guys. For real. Look how she’s looking at me! I mean. Find you somebody that looks at you like that!! You know!?

"We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes [I] put in my ear buds to drown it out, but that’s love!"

Pratt continued: "She helps me with everything. In return, periodically, I open a jar of pickles. That’s the trade. Her heart is pure and it belongs to me. My greatest treasure right next to my Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck Rookie card. Which if you know, you know is saying a lot.

"It’s her birthday in about 6 weeks. So if I don’t get her anything, I’ll tell her to look back on this post. Love you honey."

However, despite the post receiving over 2.2 million 'likes' as of this writing, some people took umbrage with Pratt's choice of words - in particular, his mentioning of Schwarzenegger giving him a "healthy daughter".

The reason for this is that his son Jack, Pratt's first child with Faris, was born premature and had to undergo numerous operations. Jack had to spend a number of weeks in the NICU before he could be taken home.

At the time, a pediatric neurosurgeon told Faris and Pratt that Jack had some severe brain bleeding and there was a chance that he could be developmentally disabled, the actress revealed in her memoir, Unqualified.

Following Pratt's post, people rushed to social media to show support for Farris, with one person tweeting: "Oh Anna Faris dodged a manbaby sized bullet huh."

A second added: "I have two children. One is special needs. If someone described only one of my children as healthy and gorgeous, I’d probably lose my shit. Anna Faris and her beautiful son deserve better than these cheap shots."

On Friday, Pratt took his Instagram Stories to reveal how he was feeling "down" following the backlash.

Pratt said: "I went to bed really kind of upset and depressed and I woke up feeling crappy and I didn’t want to work out. I didn’t want to.

"I knew though if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out in the woods and ran that I would feel better but I just didn’t want to.

"And I did it anyways and gosh was I right. It felt amazing."

The actor went on to say how "God sat down right next" to him, and he became emotional while listening to his Worship playlist.

"I just felt like, there was another in the fire standing next to me," he added.

"I just wanted to say, all glory to God, and if you feel down today, maybe get an exercise and maybe listen to some good Worship music or get the word in - because it really helped me this morning," he added.

Per news.com.au, the Marvel star has maintained that his post about Katherine Schwarzenegger has no ulterior meaning.
