Today she got him an amazing "gift" for his 72nd birthday: A large donation to the American Civil Liberties Union. According to critics, the Trump administration's policies have been harmful to reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrants' rights, and more. So, Chrissy announced on Instagram that their family donated $288,000 to the ACLU. Why $288,000? Because it's Donald Trump's 72nd birthday, and that's four $72,000 donations from each member of their family. (The couple has two kids, two-year-old daughter Luna and three-week-old son Miles.) They encouraged their followers to join them, and donate $7.20, $72, or whatever they like. In the note, Chrissy explained that they were motivated by the heartbreaking stories of children being separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border: "John and I are outraged to see and hear the horror stories of immigrant families seeking asylum and refuge in America being ripped apart due to the inhumane policies of the Trump administration. These actions are cruel, anti-family and go against everything we believe this country should represent. "On this auspicious occasion, in order to Make Trump’s Birthday Great Again, each member of our family has donated $72,000 to the ACLU."
