Dolly Parton addresses health concerns after sister sparked fears she was seriously ill: 'I ain't dead yet!'

Dolly Parton has spoken put to put fans' minds at ease after her sister sparked concerns that the singer was seriously ill.

Fans were left seriously worried about the 'Jolene' star this week after her sister asked fans to pray for the country star after she was forced to cancel her December Las Vegas residency due to medical issues.

The singer, 79, had also withdrawn from a planned Dollywood appearance last month, telling fans that she was following her doctors’ advice to take time off from performing.

Dolly told her fans in a statement: "I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures."

Despite the serious nature of the news, the 'Jolene' singer couldn’t resist adding her signature humor, joking with her medical team that it must be time for her “100,000 mile check-up”, though she joked that she is more used to meeting with a plastic surgeon than one for medical reasons.

However, Dolly has now taken to Instagram again to reassure fans that she is doing well, joking: "I ain't dead yet!"

She said in a new video: "Everybody thinks I'm sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I'm working hard here!

"Anyway, I wanted to put everybody's mind at ease that seemed to be real concerned, which I appreciate. And I appreciate your prayers because I am a person of faith and I can always use prayers for anything and everything.

"But I want you to know that I'm okay. I've got some problems as I've mentioned."

Dolly admitted that she did not "take care of" herself as much as she should have when her husband Carl Dean was unwell before his death, and that she is now getting on top of the health concerns she'd let slide at the time,

She added: "There are just a lot of rumours flying around. But I figured if you heard it from me, you'd know that I was okay.:

Dolly then joked: "I'm not ready to die yet. I don't think God is through with me. And I ain't done working."

The legendary country star had been due to perform a string of shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December, which she announced had been pushed back to next September instead.

Fans were left worried about her health after her sister, Freida Parton, shared a message on Facebook asking people to pray for Dolly.

She wrote at the time: "Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly.

"Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.

"She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!"

Freida later clarified that her words had been blown out of proportion and that fans need not worry.

We're glad to see Dolly is doing well!
