Over the course of the last year, a great many people stuck indoors during lockdown have decided to rock some radical new hairstyles.

Some of us have grown out our hair and given up trimming our beards. Others have died their hair a wide variety of crazy new colors. Yet more have just grabbed the nearest electric shaver and shorn themselves bald.

Indeed, even celebrities have been jumping on this particular bandwagon, with Taron Egerton, Riz Ahmed, David Beckham, and even Tom Hanks  shaving their head and opting for a radical new style.

Take a look at the moment Drake won the award for Top Billboard 200 album in the clip below:

But this week the award-winning rapper Drake has taken things a step further and baffled his fans on social media this week after debuting his new 'reverse mullet' haircut on Instagram.

The trouble began on the evening of Monday, January 4, when the 34-year-old musician took to his official account to share a picture of his new hair with his 73.9 million followers on his Instagram stories.

In a now-deleted selfie, Drake can be displaying his new reverse-mullet hairstyle; boasting a shaved back and sides and a long fringe, and with the heart design which he had shaved into his hair earlier last year still intact. He captioned the post simply: "BIG #MOOD"

It's not yet known if the picture shows Drake's real hair, a wig, hair extensions, or if he has photoshopped the pic in some way.

On Twitter, a number of social media users have reacted with dismay to Drake's new hairstyle, while others seemed to find it hilarious.

For example, one Twitter user wrote: "Drake couldnt be Justin Bieber in the popstar video so instead he got his haircut. [sic]"

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: "Nah I need to know yo is Drake’s hair real. [sic]"

However, this isn't the first time that Drake has shared something personal online which has proven to be contentious among his fanbase.

For example, back in October Drake was criticized on social media after an image emerged of the "disgusting" menu he'd chosen when catering for his 34th birthday party.
