Last week saw Pusha T release his long-awaited album Daytona to much critical acclaim and fanfare. Despite only being seven songs long, the album featured plenty of soundbites and themes that are commonly associated with a Pusha T record. There were numerous references to his former life as a drug dealer, his love of money and a few shots were fired in the direction of fellow rapper Drake.
Push closed the album with the track Infrared and the last lines of the song revolve around the fact that Drake has been known to use ghostwriters in order to pen some of his biggest hits. Alluding to this, Pusha raps: "How could you ever right these wrongs when you don't even write your songs?"
Of course, fans went into overdrive about the finishing line and Drake swiftly responded with a diss track of his own, entitled "Duppy Freestyle." In it, Drake aims shots at both Pusha T and Kanye West (the man who produced Pusha's album.) Drake mocks Kanye for enlisting him to help write songs for Kanye's album and also takes aim at Pusha - claiming that he overstates how much cocaine he used to sell: "Man, you might've sold to college kids for Nike & Mercedes, But you act like you sold drugs for Escobar in the '80s."
Not only this, but Drake also mentioned Pusha's fiance, Virginia Williams, in the diss and sent Pusha an invoice for $100,000 for "Reviving his career" as a result of the song.
However, it turns out bringing that bringing Pusha's private life into the beef was a bad move. Yesterday, Pusha released "The Story of Adidon" and made some startling revelations about Drake and his family life. Picking up on Drake mentioning his wife to be - Pusha decides to fire at Drake, his mother and his father in one go.
"You mention wedding ring like it's a bad thing
"Your father walked away at five, hell of a dad thing
"Marriage is somethin' that Sandi [Drake's mom] never had, Drake
"How you a winner, but she keep comin' in last place?"
Not done there, the rapper goes on to suggest that Drake has had a baby via former adult film star Sophie Brussaux:
"Since you name-dropped my fiancée
"Let 'em know who you chose as your Beyoncé
"Sophie knows better, ask your baby mother
"Cleaned her up for IG, but the stench is on her
"A baby's involved, it's deeper than rap
"We talkin' character, let me keep with the facts
"You are hiding a child, let that boy come home."
Drake has previously denied having a relationship with Sophie and denies getting the former adult actress pregnant. However, TMZ is alleged to have seen texts between the pair which read:
"Drake: I want you to have an abortion.
"Sophie: I can’t kill my baby simply to indulge you sorry.
"Drake: Indulge me? F*ck you.
"Sophie: What?
"Drake: You do know what you’re doing you think you’re going to get money."
The duo were pictured getting close back in January 2017 which is around the time that the baby is believed to have been conceived. Twitter, understandably, has gone into meltdown at Pusha's response and Sophie has also made her Instagram account private in light of the allegations.
We now have to wait and see how Drake fires back, although, given the way it has gone so far, I suspect he might not want to carry on this one.
