Kris Jenner is facing backlash from social media users over the way she was seen speaking to her driver in the latest episode of The Kardashians.
Although the reality show only debuted on Hulu (and Disney+ for international viewers) earlier this month, it has already sparked countless conversations on social media.
Last week, viewers were stunned to see the moment Kim Kardashian's was son sent a message about her sex tape while he was playing on Roblox. This week, however, it is "momager" Kris Jenner who is at the center of controversy.
Towards the end of episode two, 66-year-old Kris can be seen sitting in a car with 37-year-old daughter Khloé Kardashian.
While the mom and daughter duo were visiting New York to support Kim's upcoming SNL appearance, Kris decides she wants to have a private video call with Travis Barker, who is in a relationship with Kourtney Kardashian.
Recognizing that she needs to get the driver out of the car, Kris asks: "Sir, can I ask you to leave us alone for five minutes?" Which, isn't so bad.
She then asks Khloé: "Is his window rolled up?"
To which, her daughter replies: "Yes, but the trunk is open—"
"-Close the trunk," Kris immediately starts shouting.
Astounded by what she was seeing, Khloé tells her mom: "You're yelling at a f***ing guy-"
"-Close the trunk," Kris once again yells. No "please", no "thank you".
Fortunately, Khloé was on hand to show the world how to politely ask somebody to do something.
"Excuse me, sir? Would you mind closing the trunk for a moment? Thank you so much," Khloé said to the driver. She then immediately turned to her mother and told her: "It's not what you say, it's how you say it."
To which Kris, fiddling with her phone, simply replies: "I know."
Well, it wasn't long before the moment became a topic of conversation on social media, with many viewers bashing Kris for the manner in which she spoke to the driver.
"This is embarrassing and I never tweet this stuff but I’m watching The Kardashians and the way @KrisJenner told the driver to get out and rudely yelled for him to close the trunk is just disgusting. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you get to forget how to talk to people," one person wrote.
A second tweeted: "The way Kris Jenner rudely demanded the driver get out and close the trunk reminded me why I quit the service industry. Having money does not mean you can treat people like that honey."
Another viewer wrote: "The way @KrisJenner spoke to the driver in the new #TheKardashians gave me really really bad vibes. Being nice to people is so easy. I felt super uncomfortable watching it."
Viewers were also quick to praise Khloé for stepping in and calling out her mom.
"Ohh I love Kris Jenner BUT the way she shouted 'Close the trunk' to the driver? The mask slipped. Khloe telling her she was rude I did like though, for all the s**t she gets she's always been the most down to Earth," one person tweeted.
Another wrote: "Kris so rude to the driver? Go Khloe - its not what you say its how you say it. Staying polite is so important!"
One Twitter user tweeted Khloé directly, writing: "I loved how you spoke to the driver though and put your mom in her place. It really is how you say things. I know she was excited and in a hurry but the driver didn’t deserve to be treated with anything but your kindness. I was kinda shocked she yelled like that!"
