Gisele Bündchen has spoken candidly about her marriage to ex-husband Tom Brady in a new interview.
Last October, the 43-year-old Brazilian model and the 46-year-old NFL veteran confirmed that they would be parting ways after 13 years of marriage.
The couple announced their split in separate Instagram posts, with Bündchen writing: "With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce.
"My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care, and attention they deserve," she continued.
"The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always," she added.
At the same time, Brady posted a statement to his 14.4 million followers on Instagram, which read: "In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together."
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback then added: "We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.
"We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration," he concluded. "We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you."
Now, almost one year later, the Victoria's Secret bombshell reflected on her divorce from the athlete during a preview of her forthcoming interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, which will air on Sunday (September 24).
After expressing that she wouldn’t "change anything" about the experiences she's had in her life, interviewer Lee Cowan interjected: "Not even your divorce?"
In response, Bündchen revealed that while she never thought that she'd separate from her ex-husband, she's still coming to terms with her divorce after seeing how long her own parents have been together.
"I mean, it’s not what I dreamed of and what I hoped for," she said. "My parents have been married for 50 years, and I really wanted that to happen. But I think you have to accept, you know, sometimes that the way you are in your 20s, it’s sometimes you grow together, sometimes you grow apart."
The fashion model stated that the former NFL star will continue to be a part of her life since they share two children, Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10. Brady also shares a 16-year-old son, John, with ex-Bridget Moynahan.
"I mean, he’s the father of my kids, you know?" she added. "So, I always wish him the best, and I’m so grateful that he gave me wonderful children."
After finalizing her divorce, Bündchen reportedly relocated to Florida and continues to co-parent her kids with Brady.
