Ben Affleck had a heartbreaking yet awkward message inscribed on Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring.
In case you missed it, the A-list couple "Bennifer" is no more as the pair have officially called it quits.
The end of Lopez and Affleck's marriage comes two years after they tied the knot at a luxurious wedding party in Georgia on August 20, 2022.
"She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken," an insider said to PEOPLE about Lopez's choice to file the divorce papers. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”
The couple started dating after starring together in the 2003 movie Gigli, in which they played criminals stuck on the same job. They had initially planned to marry that year but called off their relationship early in 2004.
They rekindled their romance almost two decades later, got engaged in April 2022, and then held a surprise wedding in Las Vegas three months later.
The 55-year-old 'I'm Real' songstress once revealed that her soon-to-be ex-husband engraved a heartwrenching message on her engagement ring after he proposed for the second time in April 2022.
The design, an 8.5-carat radiant-cut green diamond with two half-moon accent diamonds set on a platinum band, had the words "not.going.anywhere" engraved on it.
“Because that’s how he would sign his emails when we started talking again,” she explained to Apple Music One’s Zane Lowe. “Like, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.’”
Ironically, Lopez was the one to end the marriage as she filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor on the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony, which was on Tuesday (August 20).
The Hustlers star filed the papers herself without an attorney present in Los Angeles County Superior Court and listed April 26, 2024, as the date of separation, as reported by TMZ.
The documents reportedly state that both parties must share financial information, which includes their current income, expenses, properties, and debts. The singer will have 60 days to carry out this action, and the Gone Girl star will have a further 60 days.
TMZ sources have alleged that the former couple does not have a prenuptial agreement in place, which means earnings from the past two years could be deemed community property during the divorce proceedings.
Lopez and Affleck have not yet shared a public statement about their divorce.
