Hilary Duff reveals her son's beautiful response to her telling him she 'sucked' at being a mom
If you had the honour of growing up during the Noughties, you'll be well acquainted with Hilary Duff. A mainstay of the Disney Channel, Duff was the perfect antidote to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and their never-ending European adventures. Certainly, whether she was portraying Lizzie McGuire or Sam from A Cinderella Story, Duff's characters were actually relatable to the 14-year-old experience - I mean, you could probably afford to buy Lizzie's outfits, unlike those that the Olsen twins went on to design...
Now, Duff is a dedicated mother to six-year-old Luca, and she's also expecting a second child, with boyfriend, Matthew Koma. However, in a recent interview, the 30-year-old revealed that she sometimes struggles to juggle her career with motherhood. She even told a story about how she once ended up saying that she "sucked" at parenting in front of her young son...
"When I'm filming Younger, I'm in NYC for four months, and I try to make it home almost every weekend to see him because he can't miss school," Hilary said, when speaking to InStyle.
"So I happened to be home on a Friday or Monday, and I was just scrambling. It was just one of those mornings where everything that could have gone wrong, was wrong, and we were running late. I was burning the toast over and over again, and I think I had literally been through three pieces of toast. He was finishing his homework, and it was just crazy, and I was like, 'Oh my God, I just suck right now.' And I said it out loud."
"I was like, 'You are the sweetest child. I can't even deal with you, thank you so much. I don't know what I did to deserve you.' He can just be really sweet in that way."
Too cute, right?
Luca is reportedly also overwhelmed at the prospect of having a baby sister. So much so, in fact, that he's already been thinking about names.
"We’re up for any kind of suggestions, but Luca thinks ‘Cofant Croissant’ is like, the coolest name," the actress said while on The Late Late Show with James Corden. "There would be no confusion. And when I just refer to it as ‘Cofant,’ and I’m like, ‘That would be so cool, no one at school’s going to be named Cofant,’ He’s like ‘Croissant. Cofant Croissant.’ It goes together. There’s no separating the two."
Luca is going to make the best older brother!
