Jane's Addiction has released a statement after their recent show in Boston descended into chaos after the band began fighting each other.

The band had been performing their song 'Ocean Size' at the Leader Bank Pavillion in Boston, when frontman Perry Farrell, 65, was filmed walking over to guitarist Dave Navarro, 57, and screaming at him before bodychecking him.

Navarro was seen holding Farrell back with one arm before Farrell shoved his hand away.

The lights were quickly dimmed and other members of the band and crew intervened, before hurrying Farrell off the stage.

After videos of the altercation were shared online by fans who'd been at the show, Jane's Addiction shared a statement, confirming they've also canceled their next gig.

They wrote on the band's Instagram story: "We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night.

"As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow night's show in Bridgeport.

"Refunds will be issued at your point of purchase - or if you purchased via a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek, etc.) reach out to them directly. Thank you. Jane's Addiction."

While the individual members of the band have yet to speak out publicly, Farrell's wife, Etty Lau, shared her take on what actually sparked the fight.

She claimed there had "clearly" been "a lot of tension and animosity between the members" ahead of the blowout.

Lau explained that Farrell's "frustration had been mounting, night after night" as he felt that his voice was being "drowned out" by the band.

"Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it," she claimed.

Lau also called out Eric Avery, who appeared to throw some punches at Farrell's stomach after restraining him, claiming he "took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry."

She also revealed what happened in the aftermath, telling fans that Farrell "was a crazed beast for the next half an hour - he finally did not calm down, but did breakdown and cried and cried."

While their Bridgetown show has been cancelled, Jane's Addiction is still scheduled to perform in Toronto, Canada, on September 18.
