Jason Biggs has revealed to his wife the method he used to hide his alcoholism.
The 47-year-old actor, best known for his role as Jim Levenstein in the American Pie film franchise, has opened up about the darkest days of his struggle with substance abuse.
Briggs shared the grim reality of his past on the Well with Arielle Lorre podcast. Reflecting on his twenties, he recalled a period where money and easy access to drugs fueled a dangerous spiral.
"Being 22 with money in the bank and coke in my pocket and no one saying no to me," he shared. "I lived in the gray area, but I have ‘snorting dust off the floor’ stories or similar to that."
He then recounted a particularly disturbing incident: "One of my craziest stories was, I was doing cocaine by myself in my house, and I did what I said was the last line."
Alone at 4AM with his wife asleep, the Orange is the New Black actor initially attempted to curb his impulse by throwing the cocaine into the trash. However, the desperation quickly set in. "Within 15 minutes, as soon as my last bump is wearing off, I’m like, what am I doing? I go into my trash, and I take it out, and I do a line."
The spiral didn't end there as Biggs continued: "Before I took the Ambien, I was like, ‘One more.’ I went outside, and I climbed into the trash bin and got the bag of Coke and went upstairs and did another line. I was like, ‘What the f*** am I doing? This is absolutely insane.’"
This harrowing account sheds light on the depths of Biggs's addiction, a struggle that also encompassed alcoholism.
In March 2024, on his wife's podcast "All the Fails," Biggs confessed to being a high-functioning alcoholic, consuming large bottles of vodka daily without Mollen's knowledge.
"I’m going to therapy and ‘working on things’, but meanwhile, I’m leaving therapy, having just had a good session, and I’m going to the liquor store and buying a fifth of vodka, drinking it and then driving home," he revealed.
Mollen, visibly shocked by his admission, questioned: "I was married to this guy? That's so weird to me! These are the things that like, shock me. How did I not notice?"
Biggs explained his elaborate methods of concealment. "I had it figured out to a T - to not get too drunk where I couldn’t have a conversation with you," he remarked.
He further detailed his "bottle method," stating: "I was replacing those bottles in the bar all the time. All the time." Mollen confessed she had "no idea" about him constantly replenishing their liquor cabinet.
The couple, who married in 2008 after meeting while filming My Best Friend’s Girl, share two sons, Sid and Lazlo.
In October 2018, the Saving Silverman actor publicly announced his sobriety journey on Instagram: "I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle.
"Turns out this s*** is hard. After some fits and starts, I’ve managed to put together one year of sobriety. I’m as proud of it as anything in my life. If you’re struggling, know there’s help. Don’t be ashamed. We can do this," he added.
His raw honesty about his past alcohol and drug addiction has garnered widespread praise from social media users.
One commented: "Thank you soo much for sharing your story! It gives me strength and hope," while another added: "Thank you guys for being so open about this topic and being honest about behind-the-scenes type stuff."
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained a relative of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt as part of the Trump administration’s intensifying immigration enforcement efforts.
Bruna Caroline Ferreira, the mother of Leavitt’s nephew, was taken into custody in Revere, Massachusetts, according to multiple reports.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security told NBC News that Ferreira is a “criminal illegal alien from Brazil” accused of overstaying a tourist visa that expired in 1999.
A White House spokesperson also added: “Karoline had no involvement whatsoever in this matter.”
She was arrested on suspicion of battery and is now being held at a South Louisiana ICE Processing Center nearly 1,700 miles from home.
Ferreira’s sibling, Graziela Dos Santos Rodrigues, has created a GoFundMe campaign seeking funds for legal expenses. The family hopes the support will give Ferreira a “chance to return home to her family.”
On the fundraising page, Rodrigues wrote that Ferreira arrived in the U.S. as a child and had “maintained her legal status through DACA.”
She described her sister as “hardworking, kind, and always the first to offer help when someone needs it.”
Rodrigues added that Ferreira’s 11-year-old son, Michael Leavitt Jr., is struggling without his mother: “Bruna’s absence has been especially painful for her 11-year-old son… who hopes every single day that she’ll be home in time for the holidays.”
NBC reported, however, that Leavitt’s nephew has lived full-time in New Hampshire since birth and has never resided with his mother.
Past reporting from The Cullman Times revealed that Michael Leavitt, Karoline’s brother, had been engaged to Ferreira as recently as 2014.
That same year, he won $1,008,001 in the DraftKings Millionaire Maker contest. “I’m speechless… I can’t believe it,” he said at the time.
Ferreira, quoted in that 2014 article, said she planned to use a portion of the winnings to buy “a lamp for my son’s room,” adding, “We really are blessed.”
The pair reportedly split not long after, and a source told WBUR that Leavitt and Ferreira have been separated for around a decade.
Karoline and Michael Leavitt grew up in New Hampshire with their siblings, where their parents owned a local ice cream shop and a used truck dealership.
Karoline later rose to national prominence as a spokesperson for MAGA Inc. before becoming the face of the Trump administration.
Leavitt has been a vocal supporter of the administration’s strict immigration agenda. Earlier this year, she reiterated Trump’s warnings to those living in the country illegally:
“If you invade our nation’s borders… you are going to be deported… and you may be held at Guantanamo Bay,” she said, via The Independent.
“These are criminals we are talking about – don’t forget that.”
In October, she declined to comment on whether emergency rooms should check a patient’s immigration status, saying the question was better left to “healthcare professionals and legal experts.”
New polling shows growing public discomfort with the administration’s enforcement efforts.
Only 34 percent of Americans now approve of ICE’s activities – down four points from last month.
A year ago, 56 percent supported mass deportations, but a turbulent year of raids across major cities has sharply divided public opinion.
