Jo Koy didn't hold back as he addressed the fallout from his controversial Golden Globes monologue during his first stand-up appearance since the awards show.

Speaking at a show in St. Louis, Missouri, Koy humorously critiqued the audience, making light of his past remarks.

Referring to the Golden Globes audience, Koy playfully remarked via the LA Times, "Lot of marshmallows, man. They're delicious, but goddamn, they're soft. I just come from a different time. I see the changes that are happening. I get it, but goddamn, can we f***ing laugh at ourselves?"

Koy's monologue at the Golden Globes received mixed reactions, especially for a joke about Taylor Swift's presence at NFL games. He took another humorous jab at the audience, saying, "I got a feeling none of you motherf***ers watched it, and I'm kinda happy."

During his set, Koy emphasized the importance of free expression, stating, "It feels good to live in this country. We get to say what we want to say. Don't be apologetic about it at all. Be able to … speak your mind."

The controversy stemmed from Koy's opening monologue at the Golden Globes on January 7, where he made a quip about Swift's frequent appearances during NFL games while supporting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

He said, "The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift." He quickly acknowledged the joke fell flat and apologized to the audience.

The Swift joke sparked reactions on social media, including Swift's icy glare, which became a topic of discussion. Piers Morgan tweeted, "If Taylor Swift death stares could actually kill, Jo Koy would now be deceased."

Koy's recent comments about the monologue are among the most candid he has delivered since the incident. He previously admitted that the joke was "weird" and fell "a little flat," clarifying that he did not intend to bash Swift.

Koy explained that his aim was to make fun of the NFL's use of cutaways during games, comparing it to the Golden Globes' approach. He emphasized that there was no ill intent behind the joke.

Since the Golden Globes, Koy has received support from fellow comedians, including Sara Haines from "The View" and Whoopi Goldberg, who defended him and the challenges of hosting gigs, describing Koy as one of the best stand-up comedians.
