John Cena makes rare comment on ‘improvised’ Amy Schumer sex scene that saw him ‘inside her’
John Cena has shared a rare comment about a sex scene with Amy Schumer, where she claimed he was "inside her".
As previously reported, Schumer and Cena starred together in the 2015 romcom Trainwreck, where the WWE star played Steven, a muscular gym addict and one of her character Amy’s many flings before she falls for the film’s leading man.
Speaking about the infamous sex scene they shared, Schumer told Australian chat show The Project how she kept a straight face during the scene, joking: “Because he was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him?”
Bill Hader, who also starred in the film, chimed in at the time: “Wrestlers, they're not faking. When they're wrestlers they don't fake!”, as Amy added: “It’s real.”
Describing what getting intimate with Cena was like, Schumer added: "It's a whole universe, that butt… it’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me."
She continued: "I think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have sex. Just lay there.”
Schumer then quipped: “You know what? I didn’t get to feel his balls. It’s a major regret of mine. Major regret.”
For his part, Cena has rarely commented on the experience, but he revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he "came prepared" for the gig, which then turned into more than he expected.
He explained: "Let's take Trainwreck for example, a part that was written simply to be a one scene gag.
"Amy's true experience in life where she had way too physical sex with someone and it was like 'this is just too physical, I can't, like I'm out' because it's a gag and super funny.
"We did stunt rehearsals and we used none of it because of the audition and their ability to pivot and be like 'oh man' but I came prepared dude.
"I came prepared and confident and knew like 'okay, I'm giving this small window of probably 90 seconds on screen my everything,' and what I'm not going to do is get out of that audition and say 'I could have done more.'"
Back in 2015, Cena also spoke out about the scene on Conan, admitting: "It was awkward. And they wanted awkward so we gave them awkward.
"Honestly I didn’t think I’d get the part. And I kept putting it off not telling [then-wife Nicole Bella] and not having the discussion of, ‘Hey there may be some graphic scenes.’"
In a separate interview with Fox News, he said: “It was uncomfortable. I never thought I would get the part in the first place. Then I got the part and was thinking I have to be naked. It was nerve-wracking.
“Nicole had every right to be upset because I didn’t tell her about it at first. I never really approached her with ‘I’m trying to do this thing.’ Nicole had every right to be mad because I should have told her from the beginning."
