JoJo Siwa has finally addressed the confusion surrounding her relationship with boyfriend Chris Hughes after a surprising comment from the British reality star left fans puzzled.
Hughes, 32, made waves this week during his appearance on MasterChef UK, where he revealed: "So, I live on my own. I’ve been single for three years, so it’s not like I’m cooking for anyone."
This revelation raised eyebrows, especially given the public romance between him and Siwa, who he's been dating since the spring. For many fans, hearing Hughes describe himself as single was a stark contrast to the happy, committed relationship the pair has shared in recent months.
Siwa, 22, and Hughes’ relationship first caught public attention when they met on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother in April 2023.
At the time, Siwa was still in a relationship with Kath Ebbs, and both Siwa and Hughes insisted they were “platonic friends” while filming the show. However, things quickly shifted after the cameras stopped rolling.
Reports suggest that Siwa ended her relationship with Ebbs at the show's wrap party, and by the following months, she had begun dating Hughes.
Just two months later, Siwa told The Guardian: “It's not platonic anymore, and it's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way."

Despite their growing relationship, the couple has faced public scrutiny and questions about the timeline of their romance, especially in light of Hughes’ comments on MasterChef.
In the show, Hughes complained about cooking for himself and feeling “sad” about not having someone to share his culinary creations with.
"If I’m just cooking for myself, no one can appreciate it, apart from me. It’s quite sad really, isn’t it? I need someone there to show off to in the kitchen, I’ve got the judges."
While many were left wondering what Hughes’ comment meant for his relationship with JoJo, the reality star’s declaration of being “single” was not as dramatic as it seemed.
According to Siwa, the statement was simply a reflection of when the MasterChef episode was filmed.
The episode actually took place before Siwa and Hughes had begun their relationship, as confirmed by Siwa’s own social media post.
To clarify any confusion, Siwa took to Instagram to mark the couple’s six-month anniversary and put any breakup rumors to rest.
In a heartfelt post, she shared: “6 months (heart emoji), wouldn’t trade one day for anything.”
Along with a video of the pair dancing, JoJo gushed about how she had “had a full heart the last six months,” and expressed her excitement about spending Christmas with Chris in England for the first time.
Fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that the MasterChef filming occurred well before their relationship began.
One fan commented: "They announced in May that he had filmed MasterChef before Big Brother. They didn’t know if it was ever actually going to air."
JoJo and Chris have certainly not shied away from sharing their love on social media, and their bond has only seemed to grow stronger.
From luxurious trips to Mexico and the Bahamas to enjoying the festive season together, the couple has made the most of their time together.
In fact, just last week, they took their relationship to the next level by partnering for sponsored content with Primark, showcasing their playful chemistry in cozy quarter-zips while attending a pop-up event to celebrate their first Christmas together.
The campaign, which featured the pair enjoying the holiday products at Primark’s Christmas House, read: "Celebrating Our First Christmas together at Primark's Christmas House."
