Kim Kardashian has revealed she would "cry all the time" after being compared unfavorably to Kate Middleton during their respective pregnancies.

The 40-year-old reality star and businesswoman was pregnant with her firstborn North in 2013, while the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, was expecting Prince George.

And now, during a recent appearance on the We Are Supported By podcast, the mom-of-four revealed that she couldn't enjoy her first pregnancy due to her ill-treatment by the press at the time.

Due to her pre-eclampsia, which she was diagnosed with while pregnant with North, her face and feet would swell up. However, the press was merciless - and Kim described feeling felt "brutalized" by certain media outlets as they repeatedly compared her to a whale.

She said she would "sit at home and cry all the time" due to the unnecessary comparisons to the "waif-like" royal.

"It was really, really crazy," Kim said, per the Daily Star. "They would always compare me to Kate Middleton so it would say 'Kate the waif and Kim the whale, the waif versus the whale'."

She added: "It was so nasty. I don't think that would really fly today, but it killed my self-esteem. I really can't believe that this was acceptable and that this was OK. "But I would sit at home and cry all the time."

After giving birth to North, eight, and her first son Saint, five, Kim welcomed her third child Chicago, three, and fourth child Psalm, two, via surrogacy. She shares all four of the little ones with her ex Kanye West.

She and the rapper announced their divorce earlier this year in February.

After Prince George was born in 2013, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed Princess Charlotte, six, in 2015, and Prince Louis, 3, in 2018.

In other Kardashian news, last month, Kim announced plans to completely shut down her brand KKW Beauty in order to replace it with a "completely new brand".

Taking to her social media, she told her 234 million followers the new project would mean an increase in "modern", "innovative" and "sustainable" formulas and packaging.

The reality star said in the post: "I’m excited to continue to develop and expand my product range and for you to finally be able to experience it the way that I have always envisioned."
