Kyra Sedgwick was not left stunned by the shocking news that she is related to her husband, Kevin Bacon.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are the epitome of a modern A-list couple. The couple first crossed paths in 1978 when the Footloose actor was approached by a 12-year-old Sedgwick.
The pair reunited ten years later on the set of PBS's Lemon Sky, which is Lanford Wilson's semi-autobiographical play focused on a high school student (Bacon) who leaves his home in Nebraska and moves to California to reunite with his long-absent father, Douglas (Tom Atkins).
Their connection was immediate as the stars tied the knot on September 4, 1988, and soon welcomed their first child, Travis, on June 23, 1989, and their daughter, Sosie Ruth, in March 1992.

The beloved couple has celebrated a remarkable 35 years of marriage and have been very open about their love for each other.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the parents-of-two shared why they think their marriage has lasted. "We've always been each other's biggest [supporters] and fans," the 58-year-old actress said, noting that having "a sense of humor is crucial" in their relationship.
As for the 65-year-old Hollow Man actor, he feels it's important to spend uninterrupted, one-on-one time together, adding: "To me, walking down the street together just shooting the s*** in the middle of the night still feels like a nice place to be."

So, imagine after more than three decades of marriage and two children, you find out that your significant other is actually your distant cousin...
That's exactly what happened to Sedgwick back in 2013 after she and Bacon appeared on Finding Your Roots, which is a documentary television series that uses traditional genealogical research (written records) and genetics (DNA testing) to discover the family history of famous stars.
In the episode, host Henry Louis Gates Jr. showed the duo how their families are linked to key events in American history, including the Declaration of Independence and the battle to abolish slavery.
However, DNA analysis also shockingly disclosed that the couple are connected as the presenter - who is a Harvard professor of African-American history - showed the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star actress a picture of her ninth cousin once removed.
He then said: "And his name is Kevin Bacon," which prompted The Closer star to repeatedly exclaim: "See. I knew it!" The host then told her not to disclose that she and Bacon were related as he would be appearing on the show two weeks later.
However, she spilled the beans early, which was why the Leave The World Behind actor was not shocked when he stumbled across his wife's picture in the photo album.
"Ah, see I knew this! She told me," he said, to which Gates Jr. quipped that Sedgwick "cheated" because she was "so excited." Bacon then shared that honesty is the reason why their marriage has thrived for decades, stating: "Because you can never tell her to not tell me something."
Some people would freak out about the fact that their partner is their distant cousin, however, Sedgwick revealed in 2017 that she wasn't really fazed by the revelation.
"I figured I was going to be related to Kevin Bacon - I mean, most white people are related, ultimately," she quipped during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, according to The Wrap.
"I wasn't surprised, honestly," the award-winning actress continued. "Frankly, I figured that was part [of] the reason that they wanted to do both of us. I had to act surprised."
