Lizzo has taken to social media this week to share a body-positive naked selfie with her fans.
The 32-year-old singer, songwriter, and rapper took to her official Instagram account on Wednesday, April 21, to upload a nude picture of herself sitting on a comfy-looking sofa chair, and holding a ceramic mug - covering her breasts with her arms.
In a caption addressed to her 10.3 million followers, Lizzo wrote: "WELCOME TO TAURUS SEASON [...] To celebrate I wanna give y’all this unedited selfie. [sic]"
She then continued:
"Now normally I would fix my belly and smooth my skin but baby I wanted show u how I do it au natural.
"I am excited to be partnering with @dove and the #DoveSelfEsteemProject which is helping to reverse the negative effects of social media and changing the conversation about beauty standards. Let’s get real y’all. [sic]"
Suffice it to say that her post quickly picked up a lot of attention from other Instagram users, and it has now accrued over 2.2 million likes and a further 39,600 comments as of the time of writing.

For instance, fellow musician Tony Michael wrote: "Damn I love her body size if you this size come find me 'hey bae.'"

Meanwhile, another one of her followers said: "Now every time I see my tummy stretch marks I'm going to smile and think, I'm matching with Lizzo."

A third person stated: "Love you got mama!! Thank you for helping to normalize every body type. Gonna be confident in my swimsuits for my Miami trip."

Another person commented: "Wish I had your confidence!! You look great! [sic]"

Finally, another person wrote: "This picture is stunning. Why would you need to smooth anything out? Your skin [is] beautiful and smooth already.
"Thank you for being you and reminding everyone to be themselves. You are on my inspiration board always."
In a past interview with Glamour, Lizzo spoke about what she perceived as a double standard in the women's beauty industry, stating: "I don't like it when people think it's hard for me to see myself as beautiful. I don't like it when people are shocked that I'm doing it."
