As the world mourns the loss of Matthew Perry, there's no doubt that many Friends fans will be rewatching their favorite Chandler Bing moments today.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Perry had passed away at the age of 54 after reportedly being found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles.
Law enforcement sources - who have remained anonymous due to the ongoing investigation - revealed to the Los Angeles Times that no cause of death has been determined at this time. They added that no drugs were found at the scene and that it is believed that no foul play was involved.
Perry's death is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery-homicide detectives.
Following the news of Perry's passing, many of his fans have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reveal that they will be watching Friends for the rest of the day as a means of celebrating and remembering the star.
There is no denying the success of Friends.
First aired in 1994, the show - which told the story of six 20-somethings living in New York City - was an instant hit with audiences. After 236 episodes over 10 seasons, the show came to an end in 2004, but is still as popular today as it ever was.
According to Forbes estimates, the show has generated over $1.4 billion in earnings since it's first episode, and the finale - which was watched by 52.5 million in the US alone, making it the most watched television episode of the 2000s.
However, despite being adored by fans around the globe, it turns out that Matthew Perry actually could never bring himself to watch the show.
The beloved actor may have been known for bringing joy and laughter to so many of us, but off-screen, Perry spent years battling addiction and alcoholism. Speaking to PEOPLE last year, Perry revealed that due to addiction, he had to undergo 14 surgeries on his stomach and had to use a colostomy bag for nine months.
Sadly, Perry also revealed that he battled addiction while filming Friends - revealing in an interview with BBC Radio 2 back in 2016 that he actually couldn't remember three years of filming the show due to being "out of it" while on-set.
And in an interview with Tom Power last year, Perry revealed why he couldn't bring himself to watch the show, saying that he could actually pinpoint what substance he was abusing based on his appearance throughout the seasons.
"I didn't watch the show, and haven't watched the show, because I could go, 'Drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine,'" he told Power. "I could tell season by season, by how I looked. That's why I don't wanna watch it, because that's what I see.
"But I think I'm going to start to watch it because it's been an incredible thing to watch it touch the hearts of different generations."
Nevertheless, there's no doubt that Perry's performance as Chandler Bing will continue to entertain and bring laughter to viewers for generations to come.
Our thoughts continue to go out to Perry's family, friends, and fans at this difficult time.
