Mick Jagger has revealed that he is considering leaving a $500 million fortune to charity instead of giving to his kids.

The Rolling Stones frontman, now 80, has suggested that his portion of the legendary Rolling Stones' back catalog will not be passed down to his children. Instead, he's contemplating a charitable legacy for his massive fortune.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jagger expressed his belief that his eight children "don't need $500 million to live on, " hinting at a philanthropic turn in the rockstar's financial planning.

"I think there are more important things than inheriting wealth," Jagger told WSJ. "Leaving the money to charity might do some good in the world."

The Rolling Stones, who have been rocking the world for decades, faced their own financial battles, particularly in terms of ownership rights.

To this day, they do not possess the rights to their catalog before 1971, a treasure trove that includes some of their greatest hits such as 'Satisfaction', 'Paint it Black', and 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'.

"The industry was so nascent, it didn't have the support and the amount of people that are on tap to be able to advise you as they do now," Jagger said.

He went on: "But, you know, it still happens... look what happened to Taylor Swift. I don't really know the ins and outs of it, but she obviously wasn't happy."

Jagger also delved into the intriguing idea of a "posthumous tour" featuring AI avatars representing himself and his fellow bandmates.

Drawing inspiration from ABBA's recent success in this arena, Jagger said: "You can have a posthumous business now, can't you? You can have a posthumous tour."

He noted how technology had advanced since the ABBA venture, saying: "The technology has really moved on since the ABBA thing, which I was supposed to go to, but I missed it."

The Rolling Stones, consisting of Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, are making headlines with their first album of new material in 18 years. This release also marks their first since the unfortunate passing of drummer Charlie Watts in August 2021 at the age of 80 due to complications from emergency heart surgery.

The new album, which consists of some songs recorded before Watts' passing, will also feature the voices of renowned artists such as Sir Elton John, Lady Gaga, Sir Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder.

While Jagger's kids might be getting the full $500 million fortune, it's worth noting that they will still presumably be left with a substantial amount of money.
