The "cabs are here" for Jersey Shore star Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino today, after reports that he has been released from prison after serving time for tax evasion, E News has reported.

In a statement to E! News, Sorrentino said:

"We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends, and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort. We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations!

"We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can't wait to show the world ours."

Relive some of The Situation's greatest moments on Jersey Shore:

The 37-year-old reality TV star and his brother Marc were indicted back in September 2014 for tax offenses and conspiring to defraud the United States. The brothers had failed to properly pay taxes amounting to $8.9 million in income between 2010 and 2012. In April 2017, both men were indicted on additional charges including tax evasion, structuring and falsifying records, People reported.

After pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018, Sorrentino was sentenced in October 2018 to eight months in prison, ordered to complete 500 hours of community service, and was given $123,913 in restitution, which he had already paid, plus a fine of $10,000. He was also given two years of supervised release.

Marc pled guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return and was sentenced to two years.

Mike reported to the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, New York, on January 15, 2019, where he has spent the last 240 days.

Earlier today, Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate records reported that 'The Situation' (a man who once tipped a pizza delivery guy with protein powder), would be released from prison on Thursday, September 12.

In November 2018 - one month after his sentencing - Mike married his college sweetheart Lauren Pesce. Speaking to People Now in July, the cast of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation cast spoke out about how Sorrentino’s only concern in prison has been his wife. Castmate Vinny Guadagnino said:

"The only thing that upsets him — it’s not about himself, it’s about Lauren. He just cares about her. He’s like, ‘I’m good,’ but he cares about her being alone. But she’s doing good and she holds him down in there. They talk every day, she visits him every week."

Lauren accompanied him as he made his long-awaited release from the federal correctional facility.
