Paris Hilton is somebody you don't hear so much about these days. In fact, her old pal Kim Kardashian has usurped the former queen of reality TV's throne and taken her place. After her infamous sex tape leaked, Paris Hilton was everywhere for a while, and throughout the 2000s we got used to seeing her face everywhere. But now she seems to have taken a step back, and as a result, we haven't been too clear about what she's been up to lately.

Many people might not even be aware that Paris was actually engaged to her long-term partner Chris Zylka, or that the couple has now reportedly split up. Indeed, the socialite and the actor/model are definitely no longer on good terms with one another, and if you want proof of that then just consider the fact that Paris' ex-fiancé has apparently now demanded that she give him back her $2 million engagement ring.

Now if you're a guy who doesn't earn that much money, and you've spent that much money on a ring and then the marriage falls through, it's maybe not unreasonable to want to get the ring back. However, there are two problems with this in this instance. Firstly, Chris is presumably pretty loaded, and secondly, it turns out that he reportedly never actually paid for it in the first place!

Indeed, it's been speculated that Zylka was given a pretty big discount by the jeweller for the sake of providing some free publicity. Paris used to be pretty attached to the ring. Back in January, she told E! News that when Zylka proposed to her that "I  was shaking as I put it on. It is the most beautiful ring that I have ever seen! I was so excited and surprised! I immediately said yes!"

Zylka originally proposed to the heiress and socialite when the couple were on a ski trip together over in Aspen, Colorado. Following her acceptance of his proposal, Paris stated: "I am so excited to be engaged to the love of my life and my best friend. I have never felt so happy, safe and loved. He is perfect for me in every way and showed me that fairy tales really do exist!" Meanwhile, Zylka added: "Paris is the most beautiful and incredible woman both inside and out. I feel like the luckiest man in the world to be marrying my dream girl. I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together."

So what made the couple split? An inside source allegedly told E! News that: "Paris and Chris have been having issues for over six months now. They pushed back the wedding because Paris was having cold feet and didn't know if she was ready to marry him ... They had a great run and they really loved each other, but she knew he was not her forever guy and could not go through the whole process while having these feelings."

Here's hoping that the two can resolve this issue over the ring. Come on Paris: I'm sure you won't miss it that much!
