The cause of death for Paul Cattermole, best known as one of the members of British band S Club 7, has been revealed.
The 46-year-old was found at his home in Dorset, UK, on April 6 and was pronounced dead later in the afternoon. Police confirmed at the time that there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
He died just weeks after S Club 7 announced a reunion tour to mark their 25th anniversary.
At the time of his sudden passing, Cattermole's band released the following statement: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel.
"We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."
A statement from his family read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole. Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."
Former bandmate Hannah Spearitt, who had dated Cattermole while in the band before the couple briefly reunited in 2015, announced she was leaving the S Club 7 tour following his death, with the group rebranding themselves as S Club as they continue with five members.
In a video posted to the band's Instagram, S Club member Jon Lee, joined by four of his bandmates, said: "You’ve probably noticed that there’s only five of us here today, and although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won’t be joining us on this tour. We wish her all the best for the future."
He went on to say: "We have been in a bit of shock and it has taken a while for us to find the right words to describe how we feel about losing our brother Paul."
Rachel Stevens added: "Just taking the time to process and get our heads around it all and also taking time to share time together so that we could remember Paul and all the memories we had together."
Sharing her devastation at the loss of her bandmate, Tina Barrett said: "It is just really sad, it is really really hard to process it right now."
Bradley McIntosh said: "All still in so much disbelief, Paul was a big brother to us, all of us and you guys out there. He truly was a unique specimen of human being. No one could replace our Paul, he lives on inside in each and every one of us."
Jo O’Meara commented: "Whenever Paul would walk into the room you definitely knew that he was there because he would just light it up with humour and love, just a really special person."
It has since been confirmed - according to the Dorset Coroner's Service - that Cattermole died of natural causes.
An investigation was launched into his death, with a spokesperson telling The Sun: "I can confirm that Mr Cattermole died from natural causes and our investigations have concluded"
