Selena Gomez has shared her personal struggles with motherhood in a vulnerable new interview.

The 32-year-old Only Murders In The Building actress opened up about the challenges she faces with her health with Vanity Fair.

In 2013, Gomez was diagnosed with lupus, a disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, per the Mayo Clinic.

The star underwent chemotherapy for the medical condition and then received a kidney transplant in 2017 from her friend Francia Raisa after struggling with life-threatening medical issues.

In her new interview for the magazine’s October issue, the 'Love You Like A Love Song' musician revealed a heartbreaking admission about her medical condition.

“I haven’t ever said this… but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” Gomez candidly disclosed. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while."

She revealed that she would possibly consider adoption or surrogacy in order to start a family of her own in the future.

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” she continued, adding: “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.”

This isn't the first time the Wizards of Waverly Place star has discussed her desire to become a mother sometime in the future.

In a November 2022 interview with Rolling Stone, Gomez recalled crying in her car after finding out that the two medications she takes for bipolar disorder could possibly leave her unable to have a safe pregnancy.

"That's a very big, big, present thing in my life," Gomez said at the time.

The 'Same Old Love' singer, who has recently reached billionaire status, is currently in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco.

Gomez told Vanity Fair that the couple still plans to have children in the near future, whether it be via surrogacy or adoption.

“I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different," she said. “I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me."

Gomez concluded with a heartwarming sentiment: “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby."
