Simon Cowell isn’t just chasing the next big boy band - he’s chasing youth itself... using quite a weird treatment.
The former X Factor judge, 66, has revealed he's undergone an eyebrow-raising health treatment that involves literally washing his own blood. And according to Cowell, it’s been working wonders.
“I go to this place, this wellness clinic, where they actually take your blood, they rinse it, they filter it and then they put it back into your body,” he told The Sun.
“You do all these tests, and they tell you your age, so I’ve actually aged backwards by eating better, more exercise, less stress, and certain supplements. My brain is still there, I still have the energy.”
The star’s blood-rinsing ritual explained
The treatment Cowell described sounds a lot like apheresis - a medical procedure that's been around for years but is now being embraced by the ultra-wealthy as a youth-preserving hack.
The method, similar to dialysis, involves removing a person's blood through one needle, filtering it, and then returning it through another. Sessions can stretch for hours and cost up to £10,000.
In theory, the process can remove harmful substances like microplastics, chemicals, and metals. But the science isn’t exactly convinced.
According to The Times, there have been “no meaningful studies” proving the treatment’s effectiveness. Still, that hasn’t stopped celebrities from giving it a shot.
Orlando Bloom recently admitted to undergoing a similar “cleaning” process to flush microplastics from his body.
He nearly froze himself to cheat death
Cowell’s fascination with anti-aging doesn’t stop at blood. In fact, he once considered taking things even further - with human cryopreservation.
“I actually was gonna freeze myself once because I thought why not?” he said. “But then I found out you basically come back in 2,000 years as a floating head.”
That realization turned him off the idea. The science behind cryonics involves freezing the body shortly after death in hopes that future technology could bring a person back.
But as it stands, no one has successfully been revived. Around 600 people globally have already taken the plunge, while thousands more are signed up.
Why he swore off cosmetic fillers for good
This isn't the first time Cowell’s been open about his extreme efforts to hold back time. In 2022, he confessed to overdoing it with plastic surgery - so much so, he couldn’t recognize himself anymore.
“There was a stage where I might have gone a bit too far,” he told The Sun. “I saw a picture of me from ‘before’ the other day and didn't recognize it as me.”
The look even started to frighten his son. “Eric was in hysterics,” he said. “Enough was enough. There is no filler in my face at all now. Zero.”
