Eva Amurri has spoken out about her decision to go under the knife following trolling comments about her body.
After years of second-guessing, body-shaming backlash, and feeling stuck in a body that didn’t feel like hers, the 40-year-old blogger and actress has undergone breast reduction surgery — and says she’s never felt better.
“Oh my God, I’m so happy,” she told Page Six at a luncheon for The Motherhood on Thursday. “I feel like they’ve never looked this good in my entire life — even when I was 18.”
The daughter of Susan Sarandon, Amurri has been sharing her recovery online, chronicling everything from her pre-surgery nerves to post-op snack-induced tears. “It feels surreal and empowering to be finally doing something that I had always wanted to do, but hadn’t simply because of fear of anesthesia,” she said in her initial Instagram announcement.
She revealed that the decision had been decades in the making. “I’m doing something I’ve wanted to do for 20 years,” she wrote on April 2, alongside a photo of a pink cake that read “bye bye boobies.”
The former Undateable star had never been under general anesthesia before — something she admitted gave her a “mental breakdown” ahead of surgery. But afterward, she described the experience as “easy” and “great.”
And the results? Life-changing.

“It’s so freeing and amazing to feel so comfortable in my own skin, to really look at myself and see myself proportional for the first time,” Amurri said.
She’s even noticed a shift that goes beyond the mirror — one that her kids picked up on before she did.
“Even my kids are like, ‘Mom, you seem so happy,’” she shared. Amurri co-parents her daughter Marlowe, 10, and sons Major, 8, and Mateo, 5, with her ex-husband Kyle Martino.
In January 2024, online trolls repeatedly commented on her body as she married husband Ian Hock. Her strapless wedding gown — which proudly showcased her curves — sparked headlines, debate, and a wave of unsolicited opinions.
While Eva looked stunning in a white, lace-adorned Kim Kassas shift dress, with a large overskirt and corset top, the cleavage-baring bustier had some people clutching their pearls in shock.
They took to the comments to share their thoughts, writing: "Yeah strapless dresses aren't for everyone," and: "Awful dress!!!! So unflattering! Put them away!"
Others added: "What in the name of Holy Matrimonial Tatas is going on," and: "Beautiful bride, not crazy about the lingerie, I mean bridal gown."
At the time, Amurri clapped back: her “size 32F boobs [had been] minding their business.”
Thankfully, Eva didn't seem to take the negativity to heart, as she made light of the uproar on her Instagram Story.
Sharing other stunning snaps of the day, she told her followers: "So much to share from this day, and so many thought. But it was really the most special day filled with so much love and the most incredible energy."
She then shared a photo of her and Ian posing together, from a side-on angle showcasing the top of her dress and cleavage, as she added: "And to anyone scandalized by my breasts not being ‘put away’ … Feel free to screenshot this for later," before adding a close up crop of her breasts in the gown.

Still, the criticism didn’t cause the surgery — it only underscored the years she’d spent trying to make peace with a body that never really felt like hers.
“I gaslit myself into thinking I didn’t have to feel totally comfortable in my body,” she admitted. “I turned 40 last month. And I thought to myself… You know, in the months leading up to my wedding, you know what? I’m turning 40 next year. I deserve this. I deserve the thing that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.”
In her blog and Instagram posts, Amurri hasn’t shied away from the emotional side of recovery either. “Resting is harder than I realized,” she confessed. “I feel a lot of guilt when I’m not doing something that can be seen as objectively productive.”
Her transparency — from bruises to blowouts to breakdowns — has struck a chord with followers, many of whom have followed her journey since her viral wedding clapback and her heartfelt tribute to womanhood post-divorce.
“I’m a human being just trying to feel beautiful, be a good person, raise my kids, and enjoy my life,” she wrote in a 2024 blog post reflecting on the body-shaming backlash.
Now, she’s doing exactly that — on her own terms.
