Taylor Swift reportedly praised longtime friend Lena Dunham after the actor and writer delivered an X-rated joke during the rehearsal dinner for her wedding to Travis Kelce.
According to reports, the intimate gathering took place the night before the couple's July 3 ceremony and brought together around 100 close friends and family members. While details from the celebrations have been tightly controlled, several moments have reportedly emerged despite guests allegedly being asked to sign strict non-disclosure agreements.
One of the biggest talking points from the rehearsal dinner was Dunham's speech, which reportedly had the room divided after she delivered a crude joke that drew both laughter and shocked reactions. Despite the mixed response, Swift was said to have loved the moment.
According to the Daily Mail, Dunham told the crowd: "American football is just straight guys reenacting gay p**n," prompting a mixture of gasps and laughter from those in attendance.
While some guests were reportedly taken aback by the remark, Swift is said to have reacted very differently. The singer reportedly described Dunham as a "genius" after the speech.
The pair have been close friends for more than a decade, with Swift previously serving as a bridesmaid at Dunham's 2021 wedding.
Following the ceremony, Swift's publicist released a statement confirming several details about the celebration.
"The ceremony joined both families together, officiated by their friend Adam Sandler.
"Taylor and Travis did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen. Austin Swift served as Taylor's Man of Honor, and Jason Kelce was Travis' Best Man."
The statement also said both the bride and groom wore "Christian Dior Haute Couture" for the ceremony.
"Their shoes were custom made by Christian Louboutin and the bride wore Cartier jewelry," it concluded.
Several celebrity guests have also shared their experiences from the wedding. Among them were ABC's Good Morning America hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan.
Roberts said "it really was intimate," while Stephanopoulos added: "It's hard to imagine that a wedding that big, and with such stars could feel so personal, and so intimate."
