Trevor Noah has taken Kanye West to task over the way he has behaved towards his estranged wife Kim Kardashian on social media.

For a number of weeks now, the 44-year-old rapper - now known simply as Ye - has been using his Instagram account to express his grievances against his 41-year-old wife and her 28-year-old boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

West, who shares four children with the reality star, has been widely criticized for his incessant posts about the pair.

Now Noah, host of The Daily Show, has spoken out against the 'Gold Digger' artist, saying his behavior is "terrifying to watch".

Watch Noah share his comments in the video below:

"You may not feel sorry for Kim," Noah said during a segment of his show on Tuesday. "Because she’s rich and famous; because the way she dresses; because she appropriates Black culture; because she tells women they’re lazy; because she broke the internet and then didn’t put it back together, whatever, you hate her … but what she’s going through is terrifying to watch."

He said that the SKIMS founder's situation highlighted what "so many women go through when they choose to leave."

"What we’re seeing is one of the most powerful, one of the richest women in the world, unable to get her ex to stop texting her, to stop chasing after her, to stop harassing her," Noah said. "Just think about that for a moment. Think about how powerful Kim Kardashian is, and she can’t get that to happen."

The comedian, 38, went on to talk about West's music video for 'Eazy'.

In the video, a stop-motion character that many believe strongly resembles Davidson is depicted as being buried alive.

Noah said: "What's weird about the situation is Kanye West has told us that he struggles with his mental health, so I get it. You want to have art as therapy, but here's what's weird. What Kanye doesn't understand is that what we're seeing is... it makes you uncomfortable."

The TV personality said of the "escalating" situation: "There's an element of a woman saying to her ex, 'Hey, please leave me alone.' "

"It touches on something that is more sensitive and more serious than people would like to admit," he said. "I see a woman who wants to live her life without being harassed by an ex-boyfriend or an ex-husband or an ex-anything."
