Marc Maron has blasted men trying to cancel Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, describing them as "insecure babies".

The blockbuster movie starring Margot Robbie as the titular character and Ryan Gosling as the dumbly devoted Ken has been all the buzz this summer, as it brings to life the beloved doll in a delightful and empowering animated adventure that has enchanted audiences of all ages.

However, the film has also been met with criticism by conservative personalities, including Ben Shapiro, as he took to YouTube to share a video of him setting fire to Barbie dolls as a way of protesting.

Now, 59-year-old comedian Maron has taken to TikTok to specifically call out all those offended men in his own review of the Robbie-led film.

Watch below:

"I saw Barbie and I thought it was a f***ing masterpiece," Maron said in the TikTok video. "And like, I don’t throw that word around lightly, but, Jesus Christ.

"It’s like it does a fairly amazing thing to create a sort of broad-based entertainment product that applies to the entire spectrum, I think primarily of women," he continued. "And then just seep it in progressive politics and basic feminism in a way that’s funny, informative, and well-executed in a context that is completely engaging is f***ing monumental."

The Glow actor stated that the movie executes "feminist ideas in a way that’s funny," adding: "And the comedy about men is inspired and the fact that certain men took offense to the point where they, you know, tried to build a grift around it in terms of their narrative as right-wing is so embarrassing for them."

He then said that any man that was insulted by the film was "embarrassing" and have "got to look in their pants and decide what they’re made of".

"I mean, Jesus Christ, what a bunch of f***ing insecure babies," he harshly said.

The hit film stars Robbie as a resident of Barbieland who travels to the real world, only to find out that it’s not the feminist utopia she believed it was. Along for the ride is Gosling's Ken, who decides to corrupt their vibrant home with the harmful ideals of modern patriarchy.

In an interview with the New York Times, the 39-year-old filmmaker responded to the uproar from conservative pundits threatening to torch Barbie dolls.

"Certainly, there’s a lot of passion," she said. "My hope for the movie is that it’s an invitation for everybody to be part of the party and let go of the things that aren’t necessarily serving us as either women or men. I hope that in all of that passion if they see it or engage with it, it can give them some of the relief that it gave other people."

Barbie has an all-star cast, as additional cast members include Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Dua Lipa, and John Cena.

The movie has continued to dominate the US box office, even in its second weekend as it took in a massive $93 million, according to The Independent. This comes after Gerwig's film broke the opening weekend record for a female director in the US - beating Patty Jenkins’ 2017 movie Wonder Woman.

The smash-hit flick has also outpaced Christopher Nolan’s 2008 superhero film The Dark Knight to seize the best first two weeks in cinemas of any Warner Bros release. Furthermore, it has also rapidly collected $351.4 million in screenings in the US and Canada.

So regardless of what people may think, it may soon become the biggest box office hit of the summer.
