Harry Potter has been a staple in most of our upbringings, and Daniel Radcliffe is preparing for another actor to take on the iconic role that made him famous.

Arguably the most popular franchise of all time, since the first book was published in 1997 the Potter universe has only grown, to the point that entire theme parks across the globe are dedicated to it.

To further the wizarding world, an entirely new series has been announced by HBO Max and Discovery+ which will essentially re-adapt the original series for the silver screen.

Watch the announcement below:

Casey Bloys, the CEO of HBO and Max Content, said in a press release: "We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way. Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World."

Bloys went on: "In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years."

For some, seeing new actors take on iconic roles such as Harry, Ron, and Hermione might be quite a weird experience, and Daniel Radcliffe has weighed in on the matter.

Harry Potter consumed Radcliffe's life between the ages of 11 and 21. Now 33, the star is ready to hand over the baton to a new actor.

During an interview with Deadline, Radcliffe said: "I think it’s like Harry Potter was always destined to become like Sherlock Holmes.

"The people that saw Basil Rathbone play Sherlock Holmes then [said] no one could ever do this! They’re gonna, though. It’ll get passed on to somebody," the Harry Potter star concluded.

One thing that Radcliffe knows better than most is the impact that childhood fame can have, and he often considers the next young actor who will experience the same journey that he did.

"The weird thought I have now is like, oh that’s probably like an eight-year-old kid out there somewhere whose life is going to change in a couple of years. My brain does go there," the 33-year-old said.

As reported by the Daily Mail, David Heyman, a producer on all eight of the Potter movies, is set to be in talks to be an executive producer on the series, so we might be in safe hands with the new series.

There has been no official release date yet, but it seems like Radcliffe has given it the green light!
