A cause of death for Cody Longo, best known for his role as Nicholas Alamain on Days of Our Lives, has finally been revealed.

As previously reported, the 34-year-old - who also went by Cody Anthony - was reportedly found dead at a home in Austin, Texas, in February, according to a family member who spoke with TMZ.

The alarm was first raised by his wife, Stephanie Nicole Clark - who had been at work at a local dance studio - after she failed to reach him.

She called the police to check up on her husband so they attended the property and they kicked down the door after getting no answer. Authorities then found Longo lifeless in bed.

According to an autopsy report obtained by the publication, the late actor's cause of death was "chronic ethanol abuse" and the report also notes the manner of death was natural.

The coroner also disclosed that the Hollywood Height star's body had already begun to decompose when he was found in bed, surrounded by alcohol bottles.

After his death, Clark told the outlet that her husband had been working on improving his health for his children, stating:  "He was an amazing father and the best husband. Our whole world is shattered."

Longo appeared in the popular NBC daytime soap back in 2011, becoming the fourth actor to play the role of Nicolas Alamain after Eric von Detten, Victor Webber, and Jackson Davis.

He took over the role in 2011 and appeared in a total of eight episodes for a storyline that saw Nicolas return to Salem to see his mom Carly in rehab, where he apologized for the way in which he had treated her previously.

The late star would later go on to star in Bring It On: Fight to The Finish, and play the role of Quentin in the popular 2016 TV series Nashville. He also had roles on CSI, the 2009 remake of Fame, and Piranha 3D.

His most frequent on-screen appearance came in Hollywood Heights, in which he played Eddie Duran for 78 episodes in 2012. The show lasted one season.

In addition to his wife, the late actor is survived by seven-year-old daughter Lyla Lou Alia, five-year-old son Elijah Christiano, and a one-year-old son whose name doesn't appear to have been announced as of yet.

Our thoughts continue to be with Long's family, friends, and fans.
