It is time for Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans to rejoice, because Jake, Amy, and the rest of the 99th precinct will be returning for season seven in February next year. And if that wasn't enough to head down to Shaw's for a few celebratory drinks, the show will be returning with an hour-long episode!

The last time we saw our favorite police team, they were teaming up with The Vulture, CJ, and Madeline Wuntch to take down the tormenting Commissioner Kelly.

However, the series ended with the cliffhanger of the newly-appointed Lieutenant Terry Jeffords in denial about having to leave his friends at the Nine-Nine ahead of his transfer, and the acting Commissioner Wuntch assigning Captain Holt back to patrol duty.

The officer Brooklyn Nine-Nine Twitter account announced the return of the show with a Die Hard-style poster depicting Jake as John McClain. The tweet read:

"Look who’s* back in the right place** at the right time***.

Noice.

Following season five, fans were left devastated after Fox canceled the show (seriously, why would they do that?!). Thankfully, NBC picked up the series for a sixth season of thirteen episodes the very next day - and later announced that they would be extended the series to 18 episodes.

Smort.

Season six gave fans an insight into what Hitchcox and Scully were like before they discovered chicken wings, how Amy and Jake felt about having children, and most importantly, that Cheddar is willing to double-cross Holt in order to win a heist.

Naturally, delighted fans took to twitter with all the greatest B99 memes and gifs to celebrate the show's much-anticipated return:
