The Haunting of Bly Manor, the chilling follow-up to the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House, is now out on Netflix.
Written and helmed by Hill House creator Mike Flanagan, The Haunting of Bly Manor is based on the classic Henry James novel The Turn of the Screw, and stars a number of cast members from Hill House in new roles, along with some newcomers as well.
Watch the spine-tingling trailer for The Haunting of Bly Manor in the video below:Set in 1987, the miniseries tells the story of American Dani Clayton, who comes to work as an au pair at a lavish English country estate, and care for two orphaned children.
But as Dani interacts with her two charges, she discovers that they've been seriously disturbed by the death of their last nanny, who drowned in the pond outside the house, and that something supernatural may be behind it all.
However, instead of pondering the eerie mysteries of the mansion, a number of social media users have been more intrigued by the fact that the actress who plays the character of young Flora seems to have a suspiciously-familiar voice.
As it turns out, this is because nine-year-old performer Amelie Bea Smith also voices the BBC children's TV character Peppa Pig. Now a number of Twitter users, who have since learned of this curious casting fact, have taken to social media to express their surprise.
According to IMDB, Amelie made her acting debut as the character of Daisy in the long-running British soap opera Eastenders and took over the role of the animated porcine character in February 2020, following Peppa Pig's previous voice actress, Harley Bird, retiring from the role after 13 years.
Commenting on Amelie's new role in an interview with The Metro, publicist Dermot McNamara stated:
"The new Peppa Pig, Amelie Bea Smith, would now probably be making as much as twice than Harley - as Peppa Pig is now a global brand, which it wasn’t when Harley joined.
"It would have been a very difficult task for the Peppa Pig producers to find a new voice similar to the original. So they would have pulled out all the stops to get Amelie to sign on the dotted line!"
It's fair to say that the character of Flora has had an impact with viewers, with a number of social media users commenting on her near-constant use of her catchphrase: "perfectly splendid."
Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor also stars Kate Siegel, Catherine Parker, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Victoria Pedretti, along with newcomers T’Nia Miller, Amelia Eve, Benjamin Ainsworth, and Rahul Kohli.
